Job Description • Manage civil litigation defense matters from initial pleadings through resolution., • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, legal memoranda, case evaluations, status reports, and settlement-related materials., • Prepare and respond to written discovery, review client documents, and analyze liability, damages, records, and evidence., • Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, experts, corporate representatives, and other key stakeholders., • Attend hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, pretrial conferences, and other court proceedings., • Develop litigation strategy, evaluate exposure, and provide practical recommendations to clients, insurers, and claim professionals., • Assist with trial preparation, including motions in limine, witness preparation, exhibit review, jury instructions, and trial strategy., • Communicate directly with clients, claim professionals, opposing counsel, attorneys, and support staff., • Active license to practice law in Indiana., • 2+ years of civil litigation defense experience., • Experience with insurance defense, general liability, medical malpractice defense, construction defect, transportation defense, professional liability, long-term care defense, or related defense litigation., • Experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, legal memoranda, case evaluations, and client status reports., • Experience taking or defending depositions., • Experience attending hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, or court appearances., • Ability to communicate with insurance carriers, claim professionals, corporate clients, or business clients., • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and case management skills., • Comfortable managing a litigation caseload with partner oversight., • Proficient with Lexis, Westlaw, Microsoft Office, and legal case/document management tools., • You will get hands-on litigation defense experience and direct exposure to active cases., • You will work with experienced attorneys who value mentorship, training, and professional development., • You will build practical skills in depositions, motions, court appearances, client reporting, and trial preparation., • You will be trusted with meaningful responsibility while still having access to partner guidance and support.
