American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Cardiac PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Indianapolis, Indiana. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Cardiac PCU - Progressive Care Unit, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 05/18/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, days, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Days, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: May 18, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a Level I Trauma academic teaching hospital, • Patient population includes cardiovascular diagnoses such as congestive heart failure, post-myocardial infarction, pulmonary hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias, COPD, congenital heart defects, and infective endocarditis, • Cares for patients post-cath lab procedures, pre-LVAD placement, heart/lung transplant preparation, and pre-valve replacement, • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, • Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00–19:30, • Must be able to work 50% of weekends within the contract period based on unit needs, • Floating is required and may include Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU levels of care at both Methodist and University Hospital locations, • Charting is done in Cerner (experience required), • Skillset requirements include cardiac PCU, drips, post-cath lab care, IV starts, and sheath pulls, • Conscious sedation and telemetry experience preferredRequirements, • Active IN or Compact RN license currently in hand, • BLS (AHA or RQI accepted) required; ACLS preferred, • Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required, • Level I Trauma experience required, • Cerner EMR experience required, • Proficiency in cardiac PCU skills including drips, post-cath lab care, IV starts, and sheath pulls, • Nursing degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited institution required, • Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible to applyAdditional Information, • This is an academic teaching facility — travelers must be willing to precept and/or have students shadow them during their assignment, • Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is expected for all travelers, • Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned based on operational needs, with training and resources provided, • Local candidates are not accepted for this PCU position, • Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays, • Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved, • First-time travelers are welcome to apply With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
