Job Description Job Title: Community Assistant (CA) Reports To: Assistant Director of Residence Life Location: University Village – Sheppard Pratt Compensation: $15.50 per hour and housing benefit (one bed space in a 4-bedroom/2-bath apartment) FLSA Status: Student Staff Non-Exempt Summary: The Community Assistant (CA) is a student leadership position responsible for fostering an engaging, safe, and welcoming residential experience at University Village (UV). CAs serve as visible community leaders who build relationships with residents, support retention initiatives, assist with operations, and contribute to a dynamic residential environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Develop and execute creative, high-impact programs and events that foster community, connection, belonging, and resident engagement., • Serve as a visible and approachable leader within assigned building(s), acting as a primary point of connection and support for residents., • Participate in the rotating on-call duty schedule, complete required duty rounds during assigned shifts, and respond appropriately to resident concerns, lockouts, policy violations, and emergency situations., • Accurately and promptly document incidents, concerns, and policy violations in accordance with established protocols, emergency procedures, and escalation expectations., • Work 10–15 required paid office hours per week, supporting front desk operations and resident services during peak periods, lunch coverage, evenings, and weekends as needed., • Collaborate with professional staff to support community outreach, marketing initiatives, and social media engagement, including execution of a structured content calendar., • Attend and actively participate in all required staff meetings, one-on-one meetings, trainings, workshops, and leadership development opportunities., • Serve as a positive role model and representative of University Village and COCM by upholding community standards, demonstrating professionalism, and contributing to a welcoming residential environment., • Support overall community operations by assisting with move-in and move-out processes, summer turn operations, occupancy management, and leasing efforts, ensuring a seamless and positive resident experience during peak operational periods., • Additional responsibilities such as programming, duty shifts, staff meetings, trainings, and other required position-related commitments are not separately compensated and are covered through the housing benefit., • Other duties as assigned. Students graduating in December 2026 or otherwise unable to complete the full academic year are not eligible., • Must maintain good academic and conduct standing with the college or university they attend., • Demonstrated leadership potential, initiative, and a strong sense of responsibility., • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills., • Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality., • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, move-in, move-out, and other key operational periods as required.
