Job Description Job Summary The Corrugated Packaging Designer is responsible for creating, developing, and refining structural corrugated packaging designs that meet customer specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and industry standards. This role works closely with sales, production, tooling vendors, and customers to deliver accurate structural layouts, prototypes, and manufacturing-ready specifications. The position requires strong technical design skills, material expertise, and the ability to translate customer needs into cost-effective, manufacturable packaging solutions. Job Responsibilities • Design corrugated packaging including RSC, FOL, die cuts, displays, and inserts for in-house manufactured items., • Create 2D structural drawings using ArtiosCAD or equivalent CAD software based on customer requirements and production limitations., • Modify existing designs to improve performance, cost efficiency, or manufacturability., • Develop samples and prototypes for customer approval., • Coordinate with tooling vendors, graphic designers, and customers to align artwork and printing plate requirements., • Apply knowledge of corrugated materials including ECT, Mullen grades, fluting, and board combinations to ensure structural integrity and cost effectiveness., • Determine appropriate board grades based on product protection, shipping requirements, and stacking strength., • Prepare manufacturing specifications for production teams., • Work with production and tooling teams to ensure designs are manufacturable on flexo, die cutter, and gluer equipment., • Troubleshoot design or fit issues during production., • Manage tooling inventory, coordinate repairs, inspect new and repaired tooling, and track associated tooling costs., • Estimate cutting die costs during the quoting phase., • Collaborate with sales to translate customer needs into practical packaging solutions and support customer presentations., • Maintain organized documentation of design files, revisions, print plates, and board specifications., • Ensure compliance with quality standards and revision control procedures. Required Qualifications • Associate degree in Packaging, Engineering, Industrial Design, CAD Drafting, or related field, or equivalent experience, • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in corrugated packaging or a related manufacturing environment, • Experience designing corrugated packaging including RSC, FOL, die cuts, displays, and inserts, • Proficiency with CAD software such as ArtiosCAD, AutoCAD, or equivalent, • Strong understanding of corrugated materials, flutes, board grades, stack strength, and packaging performance, • Ability to read and create technical drawings and manufacturing blueprints, • Strong math and spatial reasoning skills, • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment Preferred Qualifications • Experience with digital cutting tables such as Kongsberg, • Knowledge of flexographic printing processes, • Familiarity with TOPS or packaging performance standards, • Graphic design experience using Adobe Illustrator Compensation: $65k-75K Other Important Details One opening available No visa sponsorship available Office and design lab environment with periodic plant floor exposure May require occasional customer site visits Role requires collaboration across sales, production, tooling, and graphics teams
