American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Ventura, California. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 12/16/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Work in an adult and geriatric Step Down/DOU unit with a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio, • Unit has 12 beds with a typical census of 12 patients, • Uses Cerner, Pyxis, and SBAR communication systems, • Night shifts (3x12, 1845-0715) with every other weekend required, • Floating possible within service line, including rare float to a nearby facility, • Patient population includes cardiac, endocrine, neurological, orthopedic, surgical, and respiratory cases, • Duties include managing a variety of complex adult and geriatric cases including cardiac, neurological, trauma, and respiratory conditions, • RNs may care for patients with CVA, neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, endocrine emergencies, and complex medication protocols, • All requested time off must be submitted in advance and only one RTO request is permitted for the contract duration, • Scrubs may be any color, • First-time travelers are welcome to apply, • Online modules and a one-hour California Harassment course to be completed pre-start or during orientation\n \n Requirements\n, • Active CA RN license required at time of consideration, • Minimum of 2 years' recent Step Down/DOU/PCU/IMC/Telemetry experience required, • Certifications required: ACLS, BCLS, NIHSS, and TNCC/TCAR (TNCC/TCAR may be obtained prior to start), • Proficiency in telemetry, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response, • Experience with IV insulin protocols, blood product administration, line management, and titration of cardiac drips, • Experience in ventilator and airway management including tracheostomies, CPAP/BIPAP, and interpretation of ABGs, • COVID-19 vaccination required, • Must successfully complete an Advanced EKG exam with measurements (80% passing score, maximum two attempts) prior to start\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
