Job DescriptionSocial-Emotional Learning (SEL) & Computer Enrichment Teacher (PK-4)Job DescriptionMission The mission of the elementary computer teacher is to provide joyful and rigorous enrichment by teaching real-world skills that help scholars succeed. In Pre-K through 1st grade, the teacher builds social-emotional intelligence through the Getting Along Together curriculum, helping scholars learn cooperation, self-control, and positive relationships. In 2nd through 4th grade, the focus shifts to keyboarding, giving scholars essential typing skills for school and future success. This role is vital in helping scholars grow both socially and academically, building confidence and independence for the digital and collaborative world. Role-Based Competencies • Organization & Planning, • High Standards, • Openness to Feedback and Ideas, • Proactivity, • Efficiency, • Communication, • Team Work, • Attention to Detail, • Problem-Solving, • Emotional Intelligence, • Flexibility/Adaptability Beta Culture Competencies • Joy, • Culture of Honor, • Courageous Conversations, • Integrity, • High Standards, • Creativity Essential Duties of the SEL & Computer Teacher: • Keyboarding Instruction: Teach and develop scholars' keyboarding skills in 2nd through 4th grade, helping each scholar set personalized goals for speed and accuracy, and supporting them in meeting and exceeding these goals., • Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Instruction: Deliver the Getting Along Together curriculum to Pre-K through 1st grade scholars, building their skills in cooperation, self-regulation, conflict resolution, and positive peer relationships., • Goal Setting & Progress Monitoring: Guide scholars in tracking both their typing progress and their SEL growth through regular assessments, goal check-ins, and celebrations of achievement., • Classroom Management & Environment: Establish and maintain excellent classroom management that creates a safe, joyful, and productive environment where scholars can take risks, grow socially, and stay motivated., • Real-World Skill Building: Ensure that all lessons build scholars’ real-world skills, including keyboarding, collaboration, self-control, and effective communication that will help them succeed in school and beyond., • Program Vision & Growth: Maintain a growth mindset and continually seek ways to improve and evolve the keyboarding and SEL programs so they remain enriching and meaningful for scholars., • Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate with school leadership, teachers, and enrichment teams to align program goals and maintain open communication about scholar progress and program needs., • Classroom Preparation & Care: Prepare engaging lessons, maintain technology and materials (computers, software, etc.), and ensure the learning space is organized, welcoming, and conducive to both focus and collaboration., • Joy & Rigor Balance: Deliver lessons that balance joyful, engaging activities with rigorous practice and meaningful challenges, helping scholars build confidence and pride in their growth., • Professional Growth: Engage in professional development and pursue innovative ideas that will enhance the SEL and keyboarding experience for all scholars. Instruction & Scholar Achievement: • Teach scholars the importance of hard work through joyful rigor – engaging, dynamic learning that is academically, intellectually and personally challenging., • Implement the following BA non-negotiable instructional methods:, • (K-6) Cooperative Learning, Whole Brain Teaching, Hands on Projects, and Leadership Development - SFA Teams, • (7-8) Cooperative Learning, Soft Skills Coaching, Real World Project, Leadership Development - Tribes, • (9-12) Socratic Method, Soft Skills Coaching, Leadership Development - Ba Patch & Ambassador, • Understand that classroom observational feedback/scores will emphasize the successful implementation of the above teaching methods., • Foster a love of learning and celebrate scholar successes., • Provide opportunities for scholars to learn experientially through direct guided experience using sensory awareness, active participation, and nature’s resources., • Challenge scholars to reach their highest potential., • Model and promote BA character traits to scholars and stress the importance of each scholar being a responsible, contributing citizen to society. Recognize and reward scholars for displaying BA character traits and uphold zero tolerance for bullying and disrespect., • Implement the technology and software programs provided by BA, operating and using technology for optimum results. Ensure scholars also know how to operate and use technology and software provided., • Monitor and assess scholars’ daily work to reflect excellence in neatness, thoroughness and scholar mastery of instructional goals. Ensure scholars do their best in every subject and use neat legible handwriting on assignments. Anything but a scholar's BEST is unacceptable., • (K-12) Will teach tutorials two times a week and apply the same standards as above., • Teachers must be involved in leading or sponsoring extracurricular activities, such as running a competitive club or a sports program where scholars are able to compete.Management & Organization:, • Encourage class attendance with recognition, rewards, parent communication, and maintain 97% ADA., • Implement classroom rules/procedures (including both positive reinforcement and consequences), • Follow school drills and sub protocol procedures in accordance with the Parent/Scholar Handbook and utilize the Handbook as a first point of reference., • Maintain a neat, clean, orderly, and learning-centered environment that demonstrates BA standards of excellence. BA teachers take ownership of the campus and instill this in scholars daily., • Perform a daily uniform check and understand scholars are expected to follow the BA appearance guidelines., • Follow proper attendance-taking procedures and ensure timely reporting. Professionalism & Communication: • Demonstrate professionalism by being in regular attendance and arriving on time to work, staff meetings, tutorials, cafeteria duty, parent nights (one per month) and other assigned duties., • Complete required training on time., • Work cooperatively to create an atmosphere of unity among the school community and refrain from gossip, negativity and unsupportive comments., • Demonstrate professionalism at ALL times. Exercise wisdom by remaining calm, respectful and non-defensive during parent meetings, disagreements, and personal attacks., • Utilize professional communication with strong grammar, syntax, usage and/or spelling skills during phone conversations, personal conversations, emails, and social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. refrain from attacking others, fighting, on social media. Professional communication is used on and off campus., • Exhibit professionalism in appearance and follow the BA standard of dress located in the Magic Makers Handbook under the Dress Code section. Apply this standard of dress to social media posts in regards to modesty in dress and action (ex: swimsuit, cleavage, & shirtless pictures, in addition to posts with alcohol, cigarettes and bars etc.)., • Regularly communicate to parents about scholar achievement levels, class behavior, assigned homework, academic needs, and any concerns., • Share information regarding school calendar, planned school activities, field trips, money collection, and other events within the classroom and school that are imperative and time sensitive to the parents of the classroom., • Check staff email a minimum of three times daily during normal working hours and check teacher in-box daily and commit to read updates, notes, and employee notices in a timely manner. Other duties/ responsibilities: • Participate willingly in all dance/stomp productions throughout the academic school year., • Additional duties may be assigned by the Principal. Qualifications: • SPED certification required, • Bachelor's degree (preferred)
