An integral member of our Construction team, the Senior Project Accountant will oversee the financial health of multiple construction projects, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency across all accounting processes. This role serves as both a technical expert and a mentor, guiding junior Project Accountants while working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and leadership. The Senior Project Accountant will also serve as the primary liaison for project financials, providing accurate reporting, forecasting, and cost controls. This position will work from our office in Atlanta (Perimeter Center). Standard work hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a required one-hour lunch break each day. While the position is primarily office-based, occasional extended hours or weekend work may be necessary to meet project deadlines. Candidates should be prepared to maintain flexibility in their schedule to accommodate project and operational demands. Key Responsibilities: • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of construction project accounting, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost management for multiple projects., • Provide oversight, mentorship, and review of junior Project Accountants work, ensuring accuracy and adherence to Firmos procedures., • Prepare and review complex financial reports such as job cost reports, variance analyses, and change order tracking; present findings and recommendations to project leadership., • Act as the primary financial liaison for project teams, ensuring clear communication on budgets, forecasts, and risks., • Lead financial management within Procore, ensuring accurate cost coding, timely updates, and data integrity; support junior accountants in system use., • Oversee project budget setup and updates, ensuring accurate forecasting and real-time revisions., • Review and monitor all change orders and cost controls; work closely with PMs to mitigate risks and prevent overruns., • Ensure all financial documentation is accurate, complete, and in compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements., • Oversee subcontractor compliance documentation including COIs, lien waivers, and pay applications., • Manage deadlines for invoicing, billings, and financial reports, resolving bottlenecks proactively., • Prepare project-specific documentation for audits and maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information. Qualifications: • Minimum 10+ years of project accounting experience in commercial construction., • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. (Preferred), • Experience with Procore and QuickBooks required., • Strong knowledge of construction accounting standards, compliance, and reporting., • Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide junior team members., • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally., • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy., • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
