Learn more about us at searchengr.com Role Summary SEARCH is looking for a technical individual with creative problem-solving and exceptional interpersonal skills. Prospective candidates will be working with other industry professionals, regulatory agencies and land owners on a daily basis. Applicants should be independent and resilient individuals with the ability to work in the weather extremes Oklahoma has to offer. Applicants must be able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work at elevation and in confined spaces as needed. This full-time position will be based out of SEARCH’s Norman office, Monday through Friday, 8 am – 5 pm and on the road as individual jobs require. This role involves approximately 50% field work and 50% office-based work, depending on project needs. Overnight travel may be required, depending on the job location. Per diem is available for overnight travel. After-hours or weekend work is not typically expected but may occasionally be required to meet project deadlines. Hourly wage starts at $32/hour and is negotiable based on job-related skills, knowledge, and experience in the industry. The role is eligible for a discretionary, company-performance-based bonus in addition to a comprehensive benefits package. At minimum, applicants should be a Registered Land Surveyor in the State of Oklahoma, be familiar with governing statutes, and be in good standing with the State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. Out-of-state PLS candidates must be eligible for licensure by comity in Oklahoma. This role will be the first of its kind at SEARCH, and a subordinate assistant/technician role may be added in the future as warranted. As this is a foundational role, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the growth of the surveying department, including mentoring future hires. A company vehicle, tools, computer, and PPE will be provided (to be returned at the end of the day unless on overnight travel). SEARCH supports ongoing professional development, including training and continuing education required for license renewal. Duties and Responsibilities · Work with and take direction from supervisors. · Conduct oneself in a professional manner · Conduct boundary, topographic, construction, and ALTA/NSPS surveys · Operate survey equipment (total station, GPS, data collector, levels) · Mark property boundaries, corners, and easements using physical monuments · Collect precise field data on land features, structures, and terrain · Perform construction staking for roads, utilities, and site layouts · Verify legal land boundaries and resolve discrepancies on site · Coordinate with field crews and direct survey technicians · Research property records, deeds, plats, and title documents · Prepare legal descriptions, plats, and boundary reports · Review and interpret survey data to prepare maps and documentation · Use CAD and GIS software to create and finalize survey drawings · Ensure surveys comply with local, state, and federal regulations · Communicate findings and technical information to clients, engineers, and government agencies · Seal and sign survey documents as the responsible licensed professional · Manage and supervise survey crews and junior staff · Liaise with clients, landowners, attorneys, and public officials · Maintain accurate project records and field notes · Stay current with surveying laws, standards, and technologies · Provide expert witness testimony in legal boundary disputes (as needed) · Perform other tasks when called upon Fundamental Skills and Competencies · Ethical Judgement and Professionalism · Regulatory Knowledge · Leadership and Supervision · Good interpersonal communication skills · Management of time and resources · Use of Survey Equipment · CAD · GIS · Legal Document Preparation · MS Word & Excel · Email · Fluent in English (written and verbal) · UAV Part 107 (preferred) Minimum Qualifications · Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field · Hold an active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS or RPLS) license in Oklahoma · Minimum of 1 year of experience as a PLS · Valid Driver’s License · Passing Drug Test and Background Check Company DescriptionAbout SEARCH: SEARCH, LLC is a small and locally owned civil and environmental engineering firm, located in Norman, OK, specializing in water and wastewater utilities, site grading, subdivisions, and plats.
