Job Description Job Title: Technical Writer Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Technical Writer to support documentation efforts across two critical product lines: lithium-ion battery line for forklifts and the 6T battery line for defense sonar applications in ground combat vehicles. This role will be instrumental in preparing documentation for upcoming audits, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and maintaining high-quality internal documentation practices. Responsibilities • Collaborate with process owners and subject matter experts to review, revise, and validate procedures and work instructions., • Ensure all documentation is clear, concise, consistent with internal templates and formatting standards, and accurate with current operational practices., • Assign and update document control numbers in accordance with internal protocols., • Maintain and regularly audit the Master Document List to ensure version control and accessibility., • Support the development and revision of Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures., • Facilitate document review cycles, gather feedback, and manage approvals., • Assist in preparing documentation for internal and external audits, with a focus on surveillance and recertification audits. Essential Skills • Proven experience in technical or procedural writing, preferably in manufacturing, engineering, or regulated industries., • Strong attention to detail, grammar, and formatting., • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously., • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead collaborative review sessions and extract technical information from subject matter experts., • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other quality management standards. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience working within Quality Management Systems or other regulated environments such as defense, aerospace, or automotive., • Proficiency with document management tools and platforms, such as SharePoint, Confluence, or Documentum., • Understanding of change control processes and document lifecycle management., • Experience with electric vehicles or lithium-ion batteries is an advantage. Work Environment The position is based in an open cubical setting, working directly with the Quality Manager. The candidate is expected to work on-site five days a week, with occasional work-from-home opportunities as needed. The primary location is at Jackson Rd, with the possibility of visiting Venture Dr once a month. The work hours are 8 am to 5 pm, with some flexibility. The organization values in-person team collaboration, understanding that it will limit the candidate pool. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Ann Arbor, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
