Job Description ABOUT THE ROLE Burton Design & Construction LLC (BDC) is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our growing, fast-paced residential construction firm. This role supports accurate job costing, timely vendor and subcontractor payments, and consistent financial processes across all active projects and internal operations. The Junior Accountant works closely with our Sr. Accounting Lead and cross-functional team members to ensure financial information is entered correctly, documentation is complete, and reporting is reliable. WHAT YOU’LL DO The Junior Accountant supports day-to-day accounting operations, including job cost coding, accounts payable processing, subcontractor invoice support, weekly reporting, and month-end close activities. This role helps maintain accurate financial records across BuilderTrend and QuickBooks Online, enabling project teams and leadership to make informed business decisions. You will be expected to proactively identify missing documentation, coding discrepancies, and process gaps—and communicate clearly to resolve issues quickly. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Accounting Operations & Job Costing • Enter and maintain project financial transactions (receipts, bills, purchase orders) in BuilderTrend and QuickBooks Online, • Ensure all expenses are coded correctly to the appropriate project, phase, and cost category, • Process and track project receipts and supporting documentation, • Process subcontractor invoices and ensure required supporting documentation is complete and compliant, • Assist with accounts payable processing, including verifying coding, documentation, and payment readiness, • Review vendor statements and help resolve discrepancies to support timely payments, • Assist with maintaining and processing accounts receivable tracking and follow-up, • Assemble weekly reporting for project and financial tracking, • Support month-end tasks and reporting, including reconciliations and close-related deliverables, • Assist with year-end close activities and documentation requests as needed, • Maintain vendor files including W-9s, insurance certificates, licenses, and other required documentation, • Support workers’ compensation reporting and audit requests, • Assist with maintaining departmental budgets and financial tracking as requested, • Maintain strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through across all assignments, • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams and external partners, • Prioritize workload effectively while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment, • Deliver legendary customer service, • Practice blameless problem-solving, • Find a way to get it done, • Get clear on expectations, • Ask questions as needed, • Celebrate success, • Follow up on everything, • Deliver results, • Be relentless about improvement, • Insist on high standards, • Think team Minimum Qualifications • 3+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or related finance experience, • Construction industry experience strongly preferred, • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, • High level of reliability, integrity, and professionalism, • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and proactively seek out information, • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, changing environment with competing priorities, • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams), • Experience with QuickBooks Online required, • Experience with BuilderTrend Financials is a strong plus, • Excellent communication skills and ability to ask questions and speak up when clarity is needed, • Fluent in spoken and written English, • High school diploma or GED required This is a full-time salaried role with a competitive salary depending on experience. LOCATION & TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS Primary office: Los Gatos, CA BDC is an in-office culture and values team members who come to the office to collaborate, communicate, and learn from each other. Core hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Travel may occasionally be required between BDC locations. WHY JOIN BDC?
