JOB DESCRIPTION: Reporting to General Counsel (SF) Role Purpose The Legal Operations Manager enhances the effectiveness, efficiency, and business impact of the Legal function. The role partners closely with the General Counsel, all Directors of the various Legal areas (Corporate, Commercial, Litigation, Compliance, Internal Audit, GRC.., etc.), and leaders across the broader Legal organization to build a cohesive, digitally‑enabled, future‑ready Legal team. This includes driving operational excellence, digitalisation, AI readiness, strong performance metrics, and a consistent internal brand. Key Responsibilities 1. Operational Excellence & Business Performance • Optimise processes, workflows, and SLAs to enable fast, reliable, and business‑centric Legal services., • Define and monitor KPIs linked to business impact, including cycle times, stakeholder satisfaction, volume dashboards, risk metrics, and value creation indicators., • Coordinate improvement plans with the Directors of each Legal area to ensure alignment and consistent delivery. 2. Digitalisation & Technology Enablement • Lead the digital transformation of the Legal department, identifying, implementing, and optimising LegalTech tools (e.g., CLM, e‑billing, matter management, automation)., • Ensure strong adoption across all Legal sub‑teams, partnering with Directors to ensure the tools support their operational needs., • Strengthen digital literacy through training, guidelines, and best practices. 3. AI Integration & Future Capability Building • Champion the integration of AI into daily Legal operations, such as document automation, contract review tools, and knowledge‑management AI assistants., • Partner with HR and IT to build AI readiness, upskilling plans, capability frameworks, and operating models for an AI‑human hybrid Legal function., • Establish safe, ethical governance for AI usage across Legal. 4. Financial, Vendor & Resource Management • Manage Legal budgets, external counsel spend, and vendor evaluations, ensuring cost‑effectiveness and transparency., • Work closely with area Directors to anticipate resource needs, optimise workload distribution, and ensure proper coverage. 5. Governance, Risk & Compliance Operations • Maintain and strengthen governance frameworks, operational controls, and compliance requirements., • Support legal teams and their Directors in audits, policy updates, and risk‑mitigation plans. 6. Talent, Skills & Team Cohesion • Partner with HR and the Legal Directors to develop capability frameworks, workforce planning, training, and development paths., • Support onboarding, digital skills programmes, and AI‑related learning initiatives., • Drive initiatives that enhance culture, collaboration, engagement, and cross‑functional ways of working. 7. Reporting, Data & Insights • Develop dashboards and analytical reports on workload, trends, risk, KPIs, and progress vs. strategy., • Partner with Legal Directors to interpret insights and drive continuous improvement actions., • Present consolidated insights to the General Counsel and leadership teams. 8. Internal Brand Building & Stakeholder Engagement • Promote a strong, consistent internal Legal brand positioning the function as a proactive, strategic business partner., • Coordinate communication, storytelling, and visibility initiatives for the Legal Directors and department., • Enhance collaboration with other corporate functions (Finance, IT, HR, Compliance, Risk, etc.) to reinforce Legal’s partnership role. 9. Strategic Support to the General Counsel & Leadership Team • Act as a strategic advisor to the General Counsel, supporting planning, governance routines, operating rhythm, and strategic prioritisation., • Lead cross‑department projects involving all Directors and Legal teams, supporting the implementation of the Target Operating Model and alignment across the Legal function., • Facilitate communication, alignment, and execution excellence throughout the Legal leadership group.
