They are now looking for a Payload Systems Engineer to join the team and take ownership of the design, analysis, integration, and validation of payloads across the constellation. This role sits at the centre of payload development, working closely with satellite platform, ground, operations, and user infrastructure teams to ensure high-quality imaging performance from concept through in-orbit operations. You will contribute across the full mission lifecycle, combining hands-on technical work with cross-functional coordination, supplier interaction, and support to launch and operational readiness activities. Key Responsibilities: • Develop a deep understanding of the company's mission objectives, satellite platforms, and payload architectures, • Contribute across payload lifecycle phases, including design, analysis, integration, and testing, • Define and analyse payload performance budgets, with a focus on optical KPIs such as SNR, NEΔT, MTF, and radiometric accuracy, • Lead or contribute to geometric and radiometric calibration campaigns on-ground, and support in-orbit performance validation to ensure data quality, • Coordinate payload interfaces with satellite platforms and ground/user infrastructure teams, • Support mission preparation and readiness for routine operations, • Research and propose new technologies, calibration methods, system concepts, and prototyping ideas, • Work hands-on with technical calculations, analysis tools, and software development when required, ensuring code is well-tested and documented, • Collaborate with partners and suppliers, contributing to technical evaluations and negotiations, • Maintain strong communication across internal teams, including ground, operations, and business development, • Contribute to internal documentation, specifications, procedures, and best practices, • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, • Proven experience delivering a payload system through a full satellite mission lifecycle, from early design through launch (optical payload experience preferred), • Strong understanding of payload technologies and satellite subsystems (power, communications, AOCS, propulsion, EO payloads, etc.), • Solid experience with optical performance analysis and geometric and radiometric calibration (on-ground and/or in-orbit), • Experience technically leading or owning payload development activities, • Familiarity with hardware design tools such as SolidWorks or equivalent, • Experience with thermal design and xcskxlj FEM analysis at payload or system level, • Exposure to manufacturing, integration, and testing of prototype or flight hardware, • Understanding of payload and/or satellite verification and validation processes, • Familiarity with AIV ground support equipment (MGSE / EGSE) and environmental testing (vibration, acoustic, shock, thermal vacuum, EMC), • Working knowledge of Python for analysis or tooling, • Comfortable working in Linux-based environments, • Familiarity with agile development practices, • Experience with thermal imaging payloads (MWIR, LWIR, etc.), • Experience with mission analysis and simulation tools (STK, GMAT, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar), • Familiarity with geospatial standards and formats (OGC WMS/WMTS/APIs, STAC, COG)
