Grid Connections Manager Location: Midlands or North UK (Hybrid with Site Travel) Employment Type: Permanent The Role The Grid Connections Manager will take full ownership of grid connection delivery across a portfolio of renewable energy projects, ensuring compliance, coordination, and technical accuracy from design through to energisation. This role will act as the primary interface between the EPC, DNOs, IDNOs, ICPs, and National Grid, overseeing all grid-related activities and providing technical support to both the design and commissioning teams. Key Responsibilities • Manage the full grid connection process for solar PV and BESS projects from application through to energisation., • Liaise with DNOs, IDNOs, TSOs, and ICPs to ensure all technical, commercial, and regulatory requirements are met., • Review, interpret, and negotiate G99 applications, connection offers, and contestable/non-contestable scopes., • Coordinate with design engineers to ensure all electrical designs meet grid and system specifications (11–132kV)., • Oversee technical documentation including SLDs, protection settings, and SCADA integration., • Support project delivery teams with grid-related risk assessments, scheduling, and technical input., • Manage stakeholder relationships with clients, consultants, and network operators., • Enuure full compliance with CDM regulations, UK Power Networks, and National Grid standards. Requirements • Electrical Engineering background (Degree or HNC/HND level preferred)., • Proven experience managing grid connection activities within the renewable energy or power generation sector., • Strong understanding of DNO/IDNO processes, G99, G5/5, and ENA standards., • Experience working with generation assets such as solar, BESS, or wind., • Sound knowledge of HV/MV electrical design principles., • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills., • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously., • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites when required, • Experience working for or alongside a DNO, ICP, or EPC.
