Electrical Maintenance Technician - Shift

Zenith are working with our client who are looking to recruit a time-served Electrical Biased Maintenance Technician on a permanent basis. You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and safety of high‑volume manufacturing equipment. Working as part of a fast‑paced shift team, you will diagnose faults, carry out planned and reactive maintenance, and support continuous improvement initiatives to maximise equipment uptime and production efficiency.\n\n * Perform electrical maintenance on automated production machinery, robotics, conveyors, and high‑speed manufacturing equipment.\n\n * Diagnose and repair electrical faults, including PLC‑related issues, sensors, drives, motors, and control panels.\n\n * Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to minimise downtime and extend equipment life.\n\n * Respond quickly to breakdowns, ensuring safe and effective resolution to restore production.\n\n * Support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent repeat failures.\n\n * Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and commissioning activities.\n\n * Work closely with production teams to optimise machine performance and identify improvement opportunities.\n\n * Ensure all work complies with electrical safety standards, site procedures, and regulatory requirements.\n\n * Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and documentation.\n\n * Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S and Lean.\n\n * Work effectively within a multi‑skilled engineering team across shifts.\n\n * Communicate clearly with supervisors, production staff, and engineering colleagues regarding equipment status and maintenance priorities.\n\n * Support training and knowledge‑sharing across the team.\n\nSkills & Experience Required\n\n * Time‑served Electrical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC, City & Guilds).\n\n * Strong experience in electrical maintenance within a high‑volume or automated manufacturing environment.\n\n * Competence in fault‑finding on PLC‑controlled systems (Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, Mitsubishi, etc.).\n\n * Solid understanding of electrical schematics, control circuits, and industrial automation.\n\n * Experience with AC/DC drives, sensors, motors, and safety circuits.\n\nThe Person we are looking for:-\n\n * Ability to work independently on shift and make sound technical decisions under pressure.\n\n * Proactive, hands‑on problem solver with strong attention to detail.\n\n * Calm under pressure with a focus on safety and quality.\n\n * Strong communication and teamwork skills.\n\n * Driven to improve processes, reduce downtime, and support operational excellence.\n\n * Competitive salary with shift allowance.\n\n * Opportunities for training, development, and career progression.\n\n * A fast‑paced manufacturing environment with advanced automation.\n\nIf you are a time-served Electrical Biased Maintenance Technician and would like to be considered for this vacancy, please apply now
