Were currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join our fantastic Highways team, based at our Colchester site , supporting projects across theSouth East region.Youll play a key role in our commercial team, working closely with the Managing Quantity Surveyor and building strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and client representatives. Key Responsibilities As a Quantity Surveyor, youll ideally bring experience from similar sectors such as Highways, Road Infrastructure, Paving, Surfacing, or Civil Engineering. Your responsibilities will include: Managing sub-contracts: issuing tender enquiries, awarding contracts, and assessing monthly payment applications Supporting the preparation of monthly CVRs and forecasts (internal and client-facing) Assisting with final account agreements and substantiations Ensuring compliance with Tarmac and client processes to mitigate commercial risk Accurately valuing completed work and ensuring timely cash collection Preparing and submitting monthly applications for payment Issuing early warning notices and managing compensation events A company vehicle is provided with this role.A full UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points is required, and occasional travel across the UK may be necessary to support wider team needsflexibility is key. What Were Looking For Were seeking someone with: Previous experience in surfacing or highways infrastructure projects Strong drive and ambition to succeed NEC3/4 contract experience (highly desirable) Solid sub-contract administration skills Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal abilities Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel Strong numeracy and analytical skills Commercial awareness and a process-driven mindset Willingness to travel between sites as required A degree-level qualification is preferred, but we also welcome candidates with HND or those qualified by experience (QBE). The role is based our Colchester Office in Essex.The office is easily commutable from Colchester, Tiptree, West Mersea, Clacton-on-Sea, Great Bentley, Braintree, Witham, Ipswich, Sudbury, Halstead, Chelmsford and the surrounding areas At Tarmac, who you are matters.
