The Role We are seeking an experienced and highly operational Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead the next phase of August’s growth. The COO will be first and foremost a hospitality leader, someone deeply experienced in delivering exceptional customer experiences at scale. They will oversee Hospitality, Home Operations, Real Estate, People, and the cross-functional rhythm of the business, ensuring that every August home and every team delivers at the highest standard. This role is also pivotal to the administration and governance of our growing number of collections, working closely with Legal, Finance, and Client Operations to manage AGMs, homeowner reporting, and board communication with professionalism, precision, and transparency. A key member of the executive team, the COO transforms strategy into structure, building processes, teams, and systems that enable August to scale rapidly across markets without compromising quality. The company was founded in 2018 and has since grown to be the premier lifestyle holiday home platform. Key Responsibilities Include: 1. Hospitality & Home Operations Excellence • Lead home and hospitality operations across Europe, delivering consistent, high-quality service., • Drive operational efficiency while maintaining a high-touch experience for HNW clients., • Own the Hospitality P&L and drive value creation across markets, including partnership strategies and homeowner spend., • Implement scalable systems, tools, and processes that streamline operations, strengthen quality control, and reduce friction in service delivery. 2. Collections Administration & Governance • Lead the administration, reporting, and governance of all August collections., • Lead annual collections’ AGMs, and homeowner board reporting, with Legal and Finance., • Ensure transparent, accurate, and consistent communication with homeowner representatives., • Maintain August’s reputation for professionalism, reliability, and trust through best-in-class governance and homeowner relations. 3. Leadership, Coordination & Business Rhythm • Translate company strategy into clear, actionable operational plans with measurable outcomes., • Maintain structure and cadence across all departments through clear OKRs and leadership rhythms., • Align Real Estate, Commercial, and Operations, ensuring that sales volumes, home delivery timelines, and operational capacity remain balanced., • Partner closely with the CEO on planning and company performance., • Act as a connector between departments, resolving challenges, improving collaboration, and maintaining company-wide momentum. 4. People & Culture • Lead the People function and act as a cultural anchor for the company. Fostering a performance-driven, collaborative, and accountable work environment., • Organise and lead All Hands and quarterly company presentations., • Lead Q performance reviews across all departments, • Mentor and develop team leaders, embedding a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement., • Ensure 360° feedback and professional development practices are embedded across teams. About You – We'd Love to Hear from You if You Have: • Proven experience in a senior operational leadership role (COO, Operations Director, or equivalent) within hospitality, property, or service-led industries., • Deep expertise in hospitality operations, service excellence, and scaling customer experience across multiple markets., • Strong experience leading multi-functional teams (Operations, People, Client Services) across geographies., • Strong understanding of governance, stakeholder communication, and board management., • Excellent leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills., • Data-driven and commercially astute, balancing strategic vision with operational detail., • Genuine passion for property, design, and delivering best-in-class client experiences.
