Clinical Development Fellow in Neurosurgery

Location: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh Hospital (New Purpose‑Built Neurosciences Facility) Position Type: Fixed‑Term, Full Time – 40 hours per week (starting on the first Wednesday in August each year) As a part of the Department of Neurosurgery, you will work with a team of 12 neurosurgical consultants and provide comprehensive clinical care across a range of neurosurgical subspecialties for the population of approximately 1.8 million people in south‑east Scotland. • Manage neurosurgical patients on the ward, including acute assessment, monitoring, and discharge planning., • Assist in theatre, performing basic neurosurgical procedures and contributing to surgical skill development., • Attend sub‑specialty multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs) and participate in the outpatient department., • Carry out and manage lumbar punctures, shunt valve modulation, and care of external CSF drainage systems., • Engage in audit and quality improvement projects under the mentorship of consultants and neurosurgical trainees., • Post‑Foundation doctor with an interest in neurosurgery or allied neurosurgical specialties (e.g., interventional neuroradiology, spinal surgery)., • Strong commitment to developing clinical skills and participating in multidisciplinary care.
