How you you’ll contribute to our mission To supervise the day to day works operations at one of Royal Zoological Society for Scotland’s (RZSS) locations (Edinburgh Zoo or Highland Wildlife Park), including the maintenance and refurbishment of all buildings, enclosures, facilities and infrastructure owned by RZSS. Some of the things you’ll do: • Take the day-to-day lead to ensure all assigned works repairs and projects are delivered effectively, safely, on time and to budget and recommend cost-effective opportunities to minimize the impact of its operations on the environment., • Supervise the following areas: electrical, plumbing, gas servicing/heating, roofing, fire/intruder alarms, automatic doors, drainage, lift maintenance, aircon/refrigeration maintenance, PPM/compliance works, and any other duties as required., • Highlights any issues where relevant plant, equipment, are requiring to be maintained and documentation kept, meeting relevant legislation and best practice standards at all times., • Ensure all sub-contractors work to RZSS guidelines., • Ensure that a consolidated stock list of all materials, and order supplies required for the daily operation of your activity according to the formal procedures set down by RZSS, maximizing value for money., • Ensure that all relevant record systems, inspections and testing in line with legislation for park and building and infrastructure are maintained and up to date., • Work collaboratively with other sections and departments to ensure all work is scheduled, coordinated and monitored effectively, providing guidance and advice relating to your trade when required., • To keep the customers updated on progress and give technical support where required to allow work to be estimated accurately, • Work with the wider team to input into project designs, builds; coordinating departmental requirements (within area of responsibility), ensure that legislation is being met budgets are set and monitored throughout the project and act as liaison between client and architect/designer?, • Highlight and assist with site risks ensuring the key stakeholders are prompted to ensure their actions are completed on time, • Relevant City and Guilds certification or S/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience, • Up-to-date knowledge and understanding of basic building related health and safety legislation, • Working knowledge of the risk assessment processes, • Understanding of basic principles of structural design, relevant to a multi-trade environment, and ability to work to design drawings, • Experience of the maintenance and construction of buildings and similar structures What you'll get in return: • Starting salary of £34,526 - £35,389 (offer based on experience) with future salary progression up to £38,483, • 37.5hr working week (may require some weekend working), • 34 days annual leave (pro rata), • Discount in both retail/catering, • Access to a healthcare plan, • Access to Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), that provide 24-hour counselling and support, including health, legal, finance, wellbeing and family advice, • Employer contributory pension scheme If this role excites you and aligns with your career aspirations, click APPLY now.
