Job Specification: Energy Operations Manager/ Utilities Manager Position: Energy Operations Manager Location: Manchester, London or Birmingham Office, Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent - on-site role Job Overview: As the Energy Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the business’s energy management strategy and leading the transition to a new energy consultancy firm. You will be responsible for managing the relationship with the consultancy, ensuring seamless integration, and overseeing the operational delivery of energy services. This role requires strong stakeholder engagement, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to driving energy performance and sustainability across the portfolio. Role Purpose • Lead the transition to and ongoing relationship with a new energy consultancy firm., • Support the business in achieving energy efficiency, compliance, and sustainability goals., • Manage operational energy activities and ensure accurate reporting and data integrity., • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver strategic energy initiatives. Key Responsibilities • Consultancy Transition & Relationship Management, • Lead the transition process to the new energy consultancy firm., • Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with the consultancy., • Communicate business needs, expectations, and deliverables., • Monitor consultancy performance and ensure service level agreements are met., • Energy Management, • Oversee energy operations across the portfolio, including electricity, gas, and renewables., • Track energy consumption and identify opportunities for improvement., • Support the implementation of energy-saving measures and technologies., • Compliance and Regulation, • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards, including ESOS, SECR, and ISO 50001., • Prepare documentation and reports for audits and regulatory submissions. Requirements • Degree in Energy Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field., • Professional qualifications such as CEM, NEBOSH, or ISO 50001 Lead Auditor advantageous., • Experience in energy operations or management, ideally within property or facilities sectors., • Experience managing consultancy relationships and service transitions., • Knowledge of energy systems, metering, and building services., • Strong skills in energy management software and Microsoft Office (Excel essential)., • Analytical and problem-solving abilities with experience interpreting energy data., • Strong written and verbal communication skills., • Experience in project management and cross-functional team coordination., • Accuracy in data handling, reporting, and compliance documentation., • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
