Job Title Bistro Cook Location Swinton, Rotherham Contract & Hours 37.5 hours per week Worked on a 3-week rota: Weeks 1 & 2: 8:00am – 4:00pm Week 3: 2:00pm – 10:00pm (Some flexibility may be required to support service excellence.) Role Overview We are seeking a skilled and passionate Café & Bistro Cook to join our kitchen team within a refined café and evening bistro environment. The role is focused on delivering beautifully executed dishes from an elevated daytime café menu and a carefully curated evening bistro offering. This includes occasional themed dining events that showcase quality ingredients, thoughtful presentation, and culinary creativity. The successful candidate will also take responsibility for food ordering and stock management, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and exceptional standards at all times. Key Responsibilities Culinary Excellence Prepare and cook dishes to a consistently high standard, with strong attention to flavour, presentation, and detail Execute an elevated café menu during daytime service Deliver a refined, limited bistro menu during evening service Contribute to themed dining nights such as Spanish tapas, Mexican cuisine, and seafood-led menus Maintain strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and allergen regulations Stock Management & Ordering Take ownership of food ordering in line with menu requirements and forecasted demand Monitor stock levels, rotation, and storage to minimise waste and maintain quality Carry out regular stock checks and support effective cost control Kitchen Standards & Operations Maintain an immaculately clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment Complete all preparation and mise en place to support smooth, high-quality service Ensure equipment is used and maintained correctly Support menu development, specials, and seasonal offerings where appropriate Team Collaboration Work seamlessly with front-of-house colleagues to deliver a polished guest experience Communicate clearly regarding menu availability, allergens, and service flow Remain calm, professional, and composed during busy service periods Skills & Experience Essential Proven experience in a café, bistro, or quality-led food environment Strong cooking skills with a refined approach to presentation Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and allergen management Experience with food ordering and stock control Ability to work autonomously while maintaining exceptional standards Desirable Experience with small-plate or bistro-style menus Interest in international and themed cuisine concepts Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain) Personal Qualities A genuine passion for high-quality food and thoughtful presentation Organised, dependable, and detail-focused Professional, calm, and adaptable under pressure Creative mindset with pride in craftsmanship Our clients and their customers come from diverse backgrounds and so do we.
