Job Title: Year 1 Teaching Assistant Location: Fulwood, Preston, Lancashire (North West England) Job Type: Temporary Full Time (Term Time Only) Salary: 13.75 14 per hour Level 2 role. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 1 Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and supportive mainstream primary school in Fulwood, Preston . This is a full-time temporary role , supporting the Year 1 class teacher in delivering high-quality learning experiences across the curriculum. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment, helping pupils to develop both academically and socially. Key Responsibilities: Support the Year 1 teacher in delivering engaging lessons across the curriculum. Provide individual and small-group support to reinforce key learning concepts. Assist in the planning and delivery of phonics sessions and guided reading groups experience in these areas would be highly advantageous. Help maintain a positive and well-structured classroom environment. Supervise pupils to ensure safety and wellbeing throughout the school day. Support with classroom organisation, displays, and administrative tasks as needed. Required Qualifications and Experience: Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English . Previous experience working with children in an educational setting. Good understanding of child development and how children learn. Strong communication , teamwork , and organisational skills. Patience, empathy , and a nurturing approach to supporting young learners. Preferred Qualifications: Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification. First Aid certification. Experience supporting children with early reading and phonics development. Working Conditions: Temporary, full-time position (term time only).
