Sous Chef Leeds City Centre | £48,000 Package £40,000 salary + c. £8,000 tronc | Casual fine dining | Fresh food-led independent group We are recruiting a Sous Chef for a busy, independent casual fine dining restaurant in Leeds city centre . This is a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen delivering modern British cuisine using fresh, seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. You will join a large kitchen brigade of 20+ chefs, working closely with the Head Chef in a structured but creative environment with real input on menus and development. Package & Benefits £40,000 per annum salary Approx. £8,000 tronc (total package c. £48,000) 48-hour working week 5 straight shifts per week 5 days over 7 rota (flexible planning) Full menu input and development opportunities Modern, well-equipped kitchen Strong career progression within an independent group Pension scheme Role Overview As Sous Chef, you will support the Head Chef in running a high-volume, fresh food kitchen. You will help maintain consistent food quality, lead service, and contribute to ongoing menu development. Key Responsibilities Assist with menu development using seasonal and fresh ingredients Oversee daily kitchen service, prep, and plating standards Maintain food safety, hygiene, and HACCP compliance Lead, train, and support junior chefs Manage stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships Support cost control and waste reduction Step up in Head Chefs absence Work closely with front of house for smooth service delivery Candidate Requirements Minimum 35 years experience as Sous Chef or Senior Junior Sous Chef Experience in high-volume, fast-paced kitchens essential Background in fresh food restaurants, gastropubs, or casual fine dining NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Professional Cookery Strong leadership and team management skills Confident working under pressure in busy services Passion for modern British cuisine and seasonal produce Excellent knowledge of food safety and kitchen operations Apply Now If you are an experienced Sous Chef in Leeds looking for a stable role with creativity, structure, and genuine work-life balance, apply today with your CV.
