    We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Assistant Commercial Manager to support the Director in managing the commercial development and growth of our fresh fruit and grocery distribution business. The successful candidate will assist in developing sales and marketing strategies, analysing market opportunities, managing supplier relationships, and supporting business expansion across England. The role requires a strong understanding of commercial operations, customer behaviour, market trends, and supplier negotiations within the fresh produce and grocery sector. Key Responsibilities • Work closely with the Director to determine the range of fresh fruit and grocery products to be supplied and distributed across England., • Assist in developing commercial plans, sales strategies, and setting achievable sales targets to support business growth., • Discuss business requirements with the Director and provide recommendations based on market analysis and commercial performance., • Conduct local market research and analyse customer responses to products, pricing strategies, and promotional activities within the fruit and vegetable market., • Compile, review, and analyse sales figures to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement., • Prepare proposals for marketing campaigns, promotional activities, and seasonal initiatives aimed at increasing customer engagement, footfall, and revenue., • Produce commercial reports and recommendations on sales and marketing strategies for presentation to the Director and senior decision-makers., • Assist in directing the implementation of marketing strategies for products and services, including in-store promotions and seasonal campaigns., • Build and maintain strong relationships with importers, suppliers, and commercial partners., • Support negotiations with importing firms and assist with the development of import contracts, product specifications, pricing requirements, and business terms., • Monitor market developments, competitor activity, and customer trends to support effective commercial decision-making. Skills and Experience Required • Previous experience in commercial management, sales, marketing, or business development., • Knowledge of fresh produce, grocery retail, food distribution, or FMCG markets is desirable., • Strong understanding of sales planning, market research, and promotional strategy development., • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and prepare commercial reports., • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills., • Ability to work with senior management and contribute to strategic business decisions., • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities effectively.     Role Overview THE SEAS TRADE LTD is engaged in the import, wholesale and distribution of Chinese and Asian food products to business customers across the UK. The Company is seeking a London Regional Sales Executive to develop and manage its customer base across London and the surrounding areas. The role sits within the Sales & Purchasing Department and reports directly to the Purchasing & Sales Director. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining relationships with existing business customers, identifying and developing new customer accounts, understanding customers’ purchasing requirements, promoting the Company’s product range and converting customer enquiries into sales orders. The role will involve regular communication with customers regarding product requirements, pricing, availability, quotations and orders. The Sales Executive will also work closely with the Purchasing & Sales Director, Customer Service Department and Warehouse Department to ensure that customer requirements are accurately communicated and orders are efficiently processed and fulfilled. As the Company specialises in Chinese and Asian food products and works with Chinese-speaking customers and business contacts, the role requires effective communication in both English and Mandarin Chinese. Duties: • Manage and develop the Company’s existing business customer accounts across London and the surrounding areas, maintaining regular contact to understand their ongoing purchasing needs and product requirements., • Identify and approach prospective business customers within the London region, introduce the Company and its product range, and develop new customer accounts to expand the Company’s regional sales network., • Promote the Company’s range of Chinese and Asian food products to existing and prospective customers and provide accurate information regarding products, specifications, pricing and availability., • Understand customers’ business needs, purchasing patterns and product preferences and recommend suitable products from the Company’s available product range., • Respond to customer sales enquiries, prepare quotations and discuss prices and commercial terms within the Company’s authorised parameters., • Follow up quotations, enquiries and prospective customers with the aim of converting sales opportunities into confirmed orders and developing repeat business., • Receive and follow up customer orders and ensure that product descriptions, quantities, prices and delivery requirements are accurately recorded and communicated to the relevant departments., • Work closely with the Purchasing & Sales Director to report customer demand, product requirements and changing purchasing patterns, providing sales information to support purchasing and stock planning., • Coordinate with the Customer Service Department regarding customer enquiries, order updates and issues arising during the order process., • Liaise with the Warehouse Department where necessary regarding stock availability and order fulfilment and keep customers informed of relevant order information., • Maintain regular contact with existing customers to encourage repeat purchases, introduce relevant products and identify opportunities to increase account sales., • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of customer contacts, sales enquiries, quotations, orders and other sales activities, and provide regular sales updates to the Purchasing & Sales Director., • Gather feedback from customers regarding product demand, pricing, competitor products and market trends and report relevant commercial information to management., • Visit existing and prospective customers and attend relevant trade exhibitions, business meetings and industry events where required to promote the Company’s products and develop new business relationships., • Work towards the Company’s regional sales objectives and contribute to the continued growth of the Company’s customer base and sales activities in London and the surrounding areas. Who are we looking for: • Educated to degree level or above, preferably in Business, Sales, Marketing, International Business or another relevant discipline., • Previous experience in sales, business development, account management, wholesale, food distribution, trading or a similar customer-facing commercial role would be desirable., • Strong sales and business development skills, with the ability to identify prospective customers, understand their purchasing requirements and convert enquiries into sales., • Good commercial awareness and negotiation skills, with the ability to discuss quotations, pricing and commercial terms with business customers., • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain long-term relationships with existing and prospective customers., • Able to develop a good working knowledge of the Company’s Chinese and Asian food product range, including relevant product information, pricing and availability, in order to provide appropriate information and recommendations to customers., • Well organised and able to manage multiple customer accounts, enquiries, quotations and orders simultaneously., • Self-motivated and able to independently develop sales within an assigned geographical region while working effectively with the Company’s purchasing, customer service and warehouse teams., • Fluency in both English and Mandarin Chinese is required, as the role involves regular communication with English- and Chinese-speaking customers and business contacts and handling product and commercial information relating to the Company’s Chinese and Asian food product range.
