We are looking for a highly motivated individual to recruit to the position of Regional Occupational Therapist Assistant to join the therapy department in our Learning Disability & Autism services in the North & Midlands. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary team to support service users across a number of small complex care services, and residential care homes in East Midlands, Staffordshire and potentially other services within the Yorkshire & Midlands region. The ideal candidate will have some experience of working with adults with Learning Disabilities and/or Autistic adults, and a passion to learn and develop, to join our friendly team in the region. As a Regional Occupational Therapist Assistant, working 37.5 hours a week, you will assist in clinically related activities and administration, You will engage with the multidisciplinary team and ensure that the service users are fully engaged in their care pathway. Your role will include a significant focus on supporting Autistic adults and adults with a Learning Disability with their goals, including encouraging independence and development of life skills with a focus on improving quality of life. Training opportunities will be available for the successful candidate along with clinical and management supervision. The role involves travelling to different services within a geographical region; a driver’s licence and access to a car would be required to fulfil this role. Mileage is paid to travel from site to site. You will be instrumental in promoting health and independence by delivering high quality therapeutic intervention with guidance and supervision of a qualified Occupational Therapist. You will be trained in occupational therapy skills in areas such as occupational engagement, environmental adaption, development and maintenance of skills needed for meaningful participation. Our Occupational Therapy Assistant role involves: • Working effectively in the delivery of therapeutic interventions, (both 1:1s and group work), with the support of the Regional Occupational Therapist to enable our individuals to meet their recovery needs, • Contributing to the assessment, monitoring and evaluation of therapeutic interventions in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness, • Supporting patients within community integration, running community based activities, linking in with relevant community services, using public transport and local resources as required, • Adaptability in therapeutic approaches to promote maximum engagement and encourage motivation, • Supporting patients in their Real Work Opportunity roles as well as supporting vocational roles within the service, • Contributing to individual treatment pathway to reach their goals, • Assisting to deliver a therapeutic activity, ensuring that it is individualised and meaningful to our individuals., • Keeping concise and informative records of sessions and assessments through Carenotes /OT documents in line with department requirements, • Participating in the relevant induction, training and education of students and other staff, • Working collaboratively with the Regional Multi-Disciplinary Team members on patient activity as part of the OT team, • Attending clinical meetings as requested in order to ensure accurate feedback on patient activity, • Participating in monthly clinical supervision with Occupational Therapists and the organisation’s system of appraisal, • A UK Drivers Licence (with access to a vehicle), • GCSE/O-Levels (A-C) or a relevant NVQ2, • Experience supporting Autistic Adults, people with Learning Disabilities and those with Mental Health Conditions Verbal and written communication skills, • Effective computer skills, • The ability to be able to work as part of a team, • To be able to work with and engage patients in a range of activities, • Previous experience of organising/facilitating social events and activities, • Any relevant certificates, courses and skills that would enhance the delivery and diversity of therapeutic activities, • Any other specific skills which can be utilised in this setting, • Annual salary of £25,058, • The equivalent of 33 days annual leave (inc Bank Holidays) – plus your birthday off!, • Subsidised meals, • Free parking, • Wellbeing support and activities to help you maintain a great work-life balance, • Career development and training to help you achieve your career goals, • Pension contribution to secure your future, • Life Assurance for added peace of mind You will be working for an established, stable and agile company with over 8,000 employees and a unique approach to the delivery of care. You will have CCT/specialist expertise in Learning Disability or Forensic psychiatry and experience of working with and leading multidisciplinary teams. As the Consultant Psychiatrist, you will play a key role in assessment, risk management, treatment planning, and timely discharge of service users, ensuring care is delivered in accordance with the Mental Health Act (MHA), relevant NICE guidance, and local and national standards. Bradley Complex Care provides a specialist service for adults living with complex needs who may have a primary diagnosis of learning disability, mental illness or personality disorder. They may be detained under the Mental Health Act. The environment is a unique element of the service at Bradley Complex Care. We provide care in a range of small, shared gender-specific or single person apartments. This allows the treatment and rehabilitation programme to be delivered in a domestic environment which replicates community living more closely. These settings also allow bespoke care to be delivered for the individual. Service users have established care pathways and are well supported by a full complement of multidisciplinary team. You will be joining an established multidisciplinary team and wider network of Consultants in Elysium. The hospital has excellent transport links and is in close proximity to amenities in the region. Key Responsibilities of the Consultant Psychiatrist include: • Ensure the adequate working of the Care Programme Approach (CPA) for patients., • Work constructively with other multi-disciplinary professionals to ensure good patient care and throughput., • If needed escalate to Regional Directors any clinical concerns, within the region., • Provide clinical leadership to clinical teams including through effective teambuilding and facilitation., • Contribute to the training, education and development of staff of all disciplines., • Ensure medical and clinical voice is represented in hospital clinical governance meetings., • Ensure effective and efficient delivery of quality medical services., • Safe and appropriate implementation of Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act., • Liaison with external agencies who are stakeholders in patient care., • To hold MRCPsych or equivalent, • CCT in general adult psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, psychiatry of LD or within 6 months of attainment, • We will consider experienced candidates who are not on the specialist register but have AC status (or eligible to obtain), • Full GMC registration with a license to practise, • Proven MDT leadership and communication skills, • Strong clinical and risk Management skills in acute inpatient psychiatry, • Previous experience in managing inpatients with developmental disabilities.
