Non-Obstetric Ultrasound Sonographer ___ | Long-Term NHS Insourcing Contract (Awarded) Base Location: James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (JPUH), Norfolk, East of England Service Setting: NHS Trust Diagnostic Ultrasound Service (Non-Obstetric) Working Pattern: Friday to Monday, 09:00–18:00 (9-hour session including 30-minute break) Pay: Weekly/fortnightly/monthly Contract Type: Insourcing (long-term) with potential extension Start Date: Mobilising now 1. Job Summary Frontline Insourcing is recruiting experienced Non-Obstetric Ultrasound Sonographers to support a long-term NHS insourcing service at James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (JPUH). The post-holder will deliver high-quality, patient-centred ultrasound examinations and reporting within a clinically governed Trust environment, supporting additional diagnostic capacity and contributing to improved patient access and reduced waiting times. 2. Key Objectives of the Role To deliver safe, effective and timely non-obstetric ultrasound scanning to NHS patients. To ensure accurate and clinically appropriate documentation and reporting using the Trust’s reporting system (CRIS). To uphold Trust standards, clinical governance, and professional accountability at all times. To contribute to the delivery of agreed activity volumes while maintaining quality, dignity and patient experience. 3. Principal Duties and Responsibilities The post-holder will be required to: Clinical Delivery • Undertake a wide range of non-obstetric ultrasound examinations including, • General Medical, Gynaecology, and MSK (non-injection) scans. Apply appropriate professional judgement and clinical reasoning during examinations, escalating concerns appropriately. Ensure patient safety, comfort, dignity and consent throughout the patient pathway. Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and staff in a professional, compassionate manner. Reporting & Documentation Produce accurate, complete, and timely ultrasound reports on the CRIS reporting system. Ensure all examinations are documented in accordance with local pathways, Trust policies, and national standards. Maintain clear, contemporaneous clinical records and adhere to information governance requirements. Governance & Professional Practice Work in accordance with HCPC Standards of Proficiency, local Trust policies, and departmental procedures. Participate in local clinical governance processes, including incident reporting, duty of candour, and escalation processes. Maintain a high standard of infection prevention and control and comply with relevant health and safety requirements. Service Delivery o 09:00–18:00 o 20-minute appointments o Minimum activity expectations (subject to clinical appropriateness and case-mix) Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, supporting smooth service mobilisation and delivery. 4. Service Model • Minimum expected activity: 100 scans per week / 400 scans per month, • Working days: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, • Session: 09:00–18:00, • Appointment duration: 20 minutes, • Facilities: 1 ultrasound room per day, • Equipment: Provided by the Trust 5. Induction & Training All successful applicants will be required to: o equipment and room orientation o local service processes o reporting workflows o escalation pathways and governance expectations Complete required training for CRIS, including access provisioning and local system orientation. PERSON SPECIFICATION Applicants must demonstrate the following requirements: A. Qualifications / Professional Registration Requirement Essential Desirable HCPC registration as a Sonographer or Radiographer ✅ Recognised advanced ultrasound qualification ✅ Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) ✅ ✅ relevant to ultrasound practice ✅ Postgraduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound (or equivalent) ✅ B. Experience Requirement Essential Desirable Previous NHS experience working within an ultrasound service ✅ Demonstrable competence in non-obstetric ultrasound scanning ✅ Experience across General Medical Ultrasound ✅ ✅ Experience in Gynaecology ultrasound scanning ✅ ✅ Experience in MSK ultrasound (non-injection) ✅ ✅ Experience working to high-throughput clinical models while maintaining quality and safety ✅ ✅ Experience of working within a clinically governed environment (escalation, audit, incident reporting) ✅ ✅ C. The family court process can be incredibly stressful and at times re-traumatising for families. We want to do things differently. Our trauma-informed approach to assessments centres a focus on adversity, social determinants of mental health, and cultural competence. This is a flexible, self-employed role – you can complete as many or as few assessments as you choose, to suit you! We pride ourselves on the support and development we offer to our Experts – free monthly peer supervision, ongoing CPD opportunities, mentoring for those who are new to court work, as well as quality assurance and proof-reading support. ‘As a social enterprise, MCTS is the partner of choice for clinicians who value giving back as well as making a living.’ How does it work? • Your primary task will be completing complex psychiatric assessments of children and adults and writing reports for pre-proceedings or family court., • This is an affiliate, self-employed role., • You can pick and choose how much work you take on at any time with no pressure or minimum commitment., • Assessments can be virtual or face-to-face., • Our dedicated referrals co-ordinator will get to know your experience and availability and send you referrals that we think might suit – you let us know whether you’re interested and available., • £80 to £85 per hour (paid within 30 days). Up to 15 hours for an adult assessment (£1,275) or 25 hours for a child or adolescent (£2,125). Travel time and expenses are paid in addition., • When you’re ready to submit your report, we have a robust quality assurance process to support you and ensure the highest quality and consistency which includes support from a clinician as well as proof-reading and formatting support from our admin team., • We pay you within 30 days of filing your report, so you don’t have to worry about chasing payments from referrers!
