D R Newitt are delighted to be partnering with a well-established engineering and manufacturing organisation that supplies precision-engineered products and services to a range of industrial sectors across the UK. Due to continued growth and a strong order book, we are looking to recruit an experienced Manual Turner to join their workshop team based in Hillington, Glasgow. This is an excellent opportunity for a time-served engineer who enjoys precision machining, varied workshop projects, and working within a busy and technically challenging environment. The Role As a Manual Turner, you will be responsible for the manufacture, repair and refurbishment of precision-engineered components, supporting the overhaul and maintenance of industrial equipment. Key Responsibilities Include: • Setting and operating conventional manual centre lathes, • Manufacturing and refurbishing components to precise engineering tolerances, • Working from engineering drawings, technical specifications and sample components, • Machining a variety of materials including carbon steels, stainless steels and specialist alloys, • Carrying out repair and refurbishment work on worn or damaged components, • Inspecting finished work using precision measuring equipment to ensure quality standards are met, • Working closely with engineers and workshop personnel to determine suitable machining and repair methods, • Completing workshop documentation and inspection records accurately, • Supporting continuous improvement activities and maintaining excellent housekeeping standards, • Working safely and promoting a positive health and safety culture at all times What We're Looking For: • Time-served Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification, • Proven experience operating manual centre lathes within an engineering, manufacturing or repair environment, • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, • Experience machining components to tight tolerances, • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work, • Flexible and proactive approach to workshop activities, • Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently, • Strong commitment to health, safety and continuous improvement What's On Offer This company offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including: • Competitive hourly rate with overtime opportunities, • Generous annual leave entitlement, • Pension scheme, • Life assurance, • Employee wellbeing support, • Ongoing training and development opportunities, • Free on-site parking, • Stable long-term employment with a growing business Why Apply?
