Engineering Lead Technician Croydon, London £30,000 to £40,000 Full Time | Permanent About the Role Are you an experienced engineering technician ready to lead, influence, and shape the next generation of engineers? This is a rare opportunity to step into a leadership role within a Further Education setting where your impact goes beyond maintenance and directly supports student success. We are working with a well established Further Education provider in Croydon seeking an experienced and proactive Engineering Lead Technician to support the delivery of high quality technical education. This is a key role within the department, where you will lead the technical function, ensuring workshops, equipment, and resources are fully operational to support both staff and students. You will play a vital role in creating a safe, engaging, and industry relevant learning environment. Key Responsibilities • Lead and coordinate the day to day running of engineering workshops and technical support, • Maintain, service, and repair engineering equipment and machinery, • Ensure all tools, materials, and resources are prepared for practical sessions, • Support teaching staff during practical lessons and demonstrations, • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times, • Manage stock levels, ordering, and inventory of materials, • Supervise and support junior technicians where required, • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, servicing, and inspections About You • Proven experience within an engineering or technical environment, • Previous experience in a senior or lead technician role is desirable, • Strong understanding of workshop practices and equipment, • Knowledge of health and safety within an educational or engineering setting, • Relevant engineering qualification (NVQ, HNC, HND or equivalent), • Ability to support and guide others within a team environment, • Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities Desirable • Experience working within a college or Further Education setting, • Multi skilled background (mechanical and electrical), • Experience supporting apprenticeships or vocational training What’s on Offer • Competitive salary of £30,000 to £40,000, • Supportive and stable education environment, • Strong work life balance, • Opportunities for career progression, • The chance to directly impact student development and outcomes Apply Now If you are an experienced technician looking to step into a leadership role within education, or already operating at lead level and seeking a more rewarding environment, we would love to hear from you
