Financial Accounting Manager \n Tamworth | £70,000 – £80,000 + Benefits \n Newly created senior finance role | Direct exposure to the Group Finance Director | Genuine opportunity to shape and improve \n SF Partners is working in partnership with an established and successful privately owned Group who are looking to appoint a Financial Accounting Manager / Financial Controller to its Group Finance team in Tamworth. \n Reporting directly to the Group Finance Director, this is a newly scoped senior finance position offering significant ownership across financial accounting, statutory reporting, audit and financial controls. \n A key initial priority will be to bring greater ownership of the statutory accounts preparation process in-house, reducing reliance on external accountants and creating a more robust and efficient internal year-end process. You'll have the autonomy and senior-level backing to review how things are currently done, strengthen controls and introduce improvements across the financial accounting environment. For a technically strong qualified accountant who enjoys taking ownership and wants a role where they can genuinely make an impact, this is an excellent opportunity. \n \n The role: \n As Financial Accounting Manager, you'll take ownership of the Group's financial accounting and statutory reporting requirements, including: \n\n • Taking greater ownership of statutory accounts preparation and transitioning more of the process into the internal finance team.\n, • Leading the year-end process and acting as the key finance contact for the external auditors.\n, • Ensuring statutory reporting is accurate, robust and completed within agreed deadlines.\n, • Reviewing and strengthening financial controls across the Group.\n, • Identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting quality and efficiency.\n, • Developing and maintaining appropriate accounting policies, processes and procedures.\n, • Providing technical accounting guidance and support to the wider finance team.\n, • Working closely with the Group Finance Director across financial reporting, governance and continuous improvement.\n, • Supporting wider Group Finance projects and initiatives as the position develops.\n\n \n About you: \n\n • Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA or equivalent)\n, • Strong technical accounting skills and demonstrable experience of statutory reporting and audit.\n, • Strong statutory accounts preparation experience.\n, • A sound understanding of UK accounting standards and financial reporting requirements.\n, • Experience of managing the external audit process.\n, • A strong financial controls mindset, with evidence of improving processes and procedures.\n, • The confidence to challenge existing practices and implement better ways of working.\n, • The ability to operate autonomously and take ownership of key deliverables.\n, • Strong communication skills and the credibility to work effectively with auditors, advisers and senior internal stakeholders.\n\n \n Why consider this opportunity?: \n The real attraction is the opportunity to shape the role rather than simply inherit it. You'll join at a point where there is genuine appetite to strengthen the financial accounting environment, bring more capability in-house and improve the way key processes are managed. \n With direct exposure to the Group Finance Director, considerable autonomy and the opportunity to influence how the function develops, this would particularly suit someone looking for a broader and more influential position without losing the technical accounting element they enjoy. \n If you're looking for a role where you can take ownership, implement change and leave your mark on a finance function, we'd be keen to hear from you. \n
