Commercial Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor (Hybrid Role) Location: Bridgwater area (5 days on site) Flexibility: Option to work 1 day/week from a regional office Salary: Circa £75,000+ (all-in) The Role This is a hybrid Commercial Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor position, combining hands-on project delivery with team leadership responsibilities. You will take ownership of your own projects while also overseeing and supporting a small team of Quantity Surveyors across multiple workstreams on-site. The role suits someone experienced, pragmatic, and proactive — comfortable rolling their sleeves up while also leading from the front. Key Responsibilities Commercial Delivery (Hands-On): • Full commercial management of assigned projects, • Preparation and management of CVRs (Cost Value Reconciliations), • Management of variations, subcontractor accounts, and valuations, • Contract administration under NEC3, • Pricing and tendering of works Management & Oversight: Oversee and support 2–3 Quantity Surveyors Allocate workload and provide guidance across: Site Operations, Commercial Operations and HPA-related works Ensure commercial performance and reporting standards are met Act as a key commercial lead across multiple packages Project Scope Projects include a highly varied portfolio in the Bridgwater area, such as: Design & Build of internal works for specialist buildings Design (and future construction) of security-related buildings Compound setups for other contractors (modular buildings, warehouses, civils) Installation of specialist plant (e.g. Chemical Effluent Treatment Plant) Demolition and alterations to existing developments Additional civils and marine-related works (including dredging) Package Values: £5k – £25m Contracts All projects are delivered under NEC3 contracts Ideal Candidate Profile • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager, • Comfortable working in a hands-on capacity while managing others, • Experience working under NEC contracts (essential), • Background in main contracting, subcontracting, or fit-out considered, • Experience across mixed project types (civils, build, modular, etc.) advantageous, • Strong leadership capability with a proactive, self-sufficient mindset, • Someone experienced — “battle scars” preferred over job titles The Right Person Takes ownership rather than waiting for direction Comfortable managing both detail and big-picture delivery Enjoys working in a close-knit, no-nonsense team Happy in a site-based, fast-moving environment Brings energy, accountability, and a bit of personality to the team Why This Role?
