The UK is experiencing a growing population health challenge – an ageing society, stalling life expectancy, increasing health inequality and a growing number of people living with a major illness. Meanwhile, approximately 40% of chronic disease deaths globally are directly linked to just four products manufactured by transnational corporations: tobacco, ultra-processed foods, alcohol and fossil fuels. The Local Health Global Profits research consortium brings together researchers with local governments, public health practitioners, civil society organisations and local populations to understand the factors that impact on population health and the effective, scalable interventions to tackle them. About the role As the LHGP Project Officer, you will work with academics, researchers and professional colleagues to: • Support different groups in the governance structure, which are responsible for deciding the strategy and overseeing operations of the project., • Coordinate and manage LHGP meetings, workshops and events., • Support delivery of communications for the LHGP project and a national strategy to raise the profile of the commercial determinants of health (CDOH), including web content creation, newsletter distribution, social media assets and blogs., • Accurately record impact for the LHGP project., • Support the financial processes of the LHGP project. Further information This post is offered on a full time basis (36.5 hours per week), for a fixed-term period until 31 March 2028. Travel in the UK to research meetings event will be required. The post will be located in the Centre for 21st Century Public Health on the University campus where hybrid working is in operation. You will be expected to work on campus a minimum of 2 days per week. You will: • Have experience of working with multiple teams and across various management platform (such as finance, HR and contract systems) with previous work history managing complex budgets., • Be an effective communicator, work with a high level of accuracy and be able to absorb information about the research project you support.
