Our client are looking to recruit an Assistant Team Leader to support the day-to-day running of production operations within a food manufacturing environment. Reporting into the Team Leader, and ultimately the Production Supervisors and Production Manager, this role plays a key part in ensuring production runs smoothly, safely and to the required standards. Pay £14.00ph increasing to £14.92ph after training usually between 3-6 months. Working Hours: Sunday - Thursday 6am - 3:30pm Must be available to work 6 days per week and weekends over busier periods. Overtime available. This is a hands-on position, ideal for someone who can lead by example, support and motivate a team, and step up to run production when required. Duties & Responsibilities Support the Team Leader in the day-to-day running of production Step up to lead the team and run production in the Team Leader’s absence Ensure all work is completed to the required quality standards and production speeds Monitor and report on production performance, issues and improvements Mentor, support and help train team members across different levels Ensure traceability, stock rotation and product specifications are followed Report any quality, food safety or health & safety concerns immediately Stop production if required and escalate issues where necessary Complete relevant paperwork including daily records, cleaning schedules and other documentation Ensure all staff are fit for work and complete return-to-work processes where required Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment Support across different departments as required Communicate effectively with staff, visitors and contractors at all times Ensure company policies, food hygiene and health & safety procedures are followed Take responsibility for site security when required (e.g. locking up) Be flexible to meet the needs of the business, including working varied hours when needed Skills: Previous experience within a production or food manufacturing environment Experience supporting or supervising a team is desirable Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with colleagues at all levels Good understanding of health & safety and food hygiene standards Ability to work independently and use initiative Organised with good attention to detail Proactive approach with the ability to identify improvements Flexible and reliable with a strong work ethic Confident in handling responsibility and making decisions when required
