Tuesday 5pm and Friday 4pm About the School We are recruiting a Nurture Teacher for abrand-new SEND Secondary School opened in September 2025 in Surrey, supporting young people aged 1116 with social communication needs, emotional regulation difficulties, and sensory processing differences, typically associated with Autism. The school offers a therapeutic, nurturing environment with small class sizes and a strong multi-disciplinary team. Role Purpose The purpose of the Nurture Teacher is to deliver high quality teaching and learning for children and young people with social communication, emotional regulation and sensory processing needs, typically associated with autism. Some pupils may have multiple learning difficulties and may present with some challenging behaviours. Key Duties Plan and deliver nurture?based lessons tailored to pupils emotional, social, and academic needs Create a calm, predictable classroom environment that supports regulation and engagement Work closely with the pastoral, therapeutic, and teaching teams to support holistic development Set and review personalised targets linked to EHCP outcomes Track, assess, and report on pupil progress Contribute to EHCP reviews, PEPs, LAC meetings, and multi?agency discussions Support pupils with emotional regulation using agreed strategies and school policies Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to promote positive behaviour and learning Stay informed about best practice in nurture approaches, trauma-informed teaching, and SEND Candidate Requirements PGCE, with QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification Experience working with pupils with SEND, SEMH, or social communication needs Understanding of nurture principles, attachment?aware practice, and trauma?informed approaches Ability to adapt teaching to meet a wide range of needs Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multi?disciplinary team Experience developing personalised learning plans or bespoke curriculum pathways Benefits Include: Extensive training and professional development opportunities Perkbox discounts on shopping, dining, gym memberships, and more Cycle to Work and car scheme Enhanced annual leave, sick pay, pension, and life assurance 24/7 GP access for you and your household Health cash plan for everyday medical costs Employee Assistance Programme with counselling and wellbeing support £1,000 refer a friend bonus This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference to young people while developing your career in a supportive, forward-thinking school.
