About the job We are looking for a Project Engineering Manager to join our team at Bendalls Carlisle. Reporting to the Project Engineering Director, you will lead the day-to-day delivery of the engineering function across multiple, complex projects, managing the performance of the engineering team and directing design, development, and production activity from concept through to delivery. Hours of Work Monday to Friday - 40 hours per week with option of an early finish Friday Key responsibilities Directly manage and lead the engineering team, ensuring effective team-wide coordination and performance in support of delivery. Provide day-to-day people management for the engineering team, including onboarding, one-to-ones, absence, appraisals, and performance management. Cascade team and individual objectives and KPIs, tracking performance and escalating where targets are at risk. Lead the end-to-end delivery of engineering work across complex projects, from initiation to successful completion against schedule, budget, and quality benchmarks. Balance and flex engineering resource across concurrent projects in line with agreed priorities as project volume grows. Act as the technical customer interface, evaluating the impact of proposed solutions in meeting clients delivery requirements. Lead on technical issue resolution for large and complex problems, providing advice, support, and consultation internally and externally. Manage engineering activity within agreed budgets and resource plans, forecasting and monitoring costs and providing analysis to Project Managers and the Project Engineering Director. Provide engineering cost and resource input into commercial bids and project estimates. Implement and embed engineering processes, workflows, and standards, ensuring consistent application across all projects. Ensure consistent application of engineering standards and protocols, such as ISO 19650, LOLER, PUWER, and CDM Regulations, across all projects. Champion the adoption of best practice, new technologies, and innovative approaches, leading their roll-out and embedding within the team. What you need for the role. Degree or HND in an Engineering discipline, or equivalent industry experience. Proven experience managing and leading a multidisciplinary engineering team, including day-to-day line management, performance management, and development of team members. Strong technical expertise in engineering principles, design, and execution. Proven success in leading the delivery of complex engineering projects within budget and time constraints. Experience of working to and embedding established engineering processes, standards, and governance across concurrent projects. Highly organised, diligent, and with strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities. Why Join Us?
