To maintain, service, diagnose, and repair Heavy Goods Vehicles to ensure they are safe, roadworthy, and compliant with DVSA and company standards, minimising vehicle downtime and supporting operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Carry out routine servicing, inspections, and preventative maintenance on HGVs and trailers Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults Conduct MOT preparation, inspections, and defect rectification Complete brake testing, safety checks, and roadside breakdown repairs as required Ensure all work complies with DVSA, manufacturer, and company standards Accurately complete job cards, service records, and maintenance documentation Use diagnostic equipment and workshop tools safely and effectively Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment Communicate clearly with workshop controllers, fleet managers, and drivers Participate in on-call or shift work where required Qualifications & Experience Essential: Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent) Proven experience working as an HGV mechanic/technician Full UK driving licence (HGV licence desirable) Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills Good understanding of health & safety and DVSA regulations Desirable: HGV Class 1 (C+E) or Class 2 (C) licence IRTEC accreditation (desirable) Experience with diagnostic software and modern vehicle systems Experience working with mixed fleets ( Artics, Trailers, Vans) Skills & Attributes Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship Ability to work independently and as part of a team Good time management and organisational skills Reliable, flexible, and professional attitude Working Conditions Workshop and/or roadside environment Shift work, overtime, and call-out may be required PPE provided Salary & Benefits Competitive salary depending on experience Overtime and call-out payments Company pension Uniform provided Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: From £18.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 48.00 per week Benefits: Company pension Free parking On-site parking Work Location: In person
