Location: Bournemouth, Poole & Christchurch\nSalary: £38,000 – £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience)\nJob Type: Full-time, Permanent\n\nThe Role\n\nWe are seeking an experienced Fire & Life Safety Service Engineer / Small Works Engineer to join our growing team, covering Bournemouth, Poole, and Christchurch.\n\nThis is a field-based role focused on the servicing, maintenance, fault-finding, and delivery of small works across commercial and industrial sites. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, managing their own workload, and representing the business professionally with clients.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Service, maintain, and fault-find fire alarm systems in accordance with BS 5839\n\n * Carry out small works, modifications, remedials, and system upgrades\n\n * Diagnose & rectify system faults efficiently and accurately\n\n * Complete service reports, certification, and job documentation to a high standard\n\n * Liaise directly with clients, site contacts, and internal teams\n\n * Ensure compliance with all relevant British Standards, legislation, and Health & Safety requirements\n\n * Participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota where required\n\n * Identify and report additional works or system improvements\n\nSystems & Disciplines (Experience in Some or All Desirable)\n\n * Fire Alarm Systems (conventional & addressable)\n\n * Emergency Lighting (BS 5266)\n\n * Fire Extinguishers (BS 5306 – desirable)\n\n * Small works such as device additions, panel replacements, and system alterations\n\n * Experience with major manufacturers such as Gent, Notifier, Ziton, C-Tec, Haes, Advanced, etc.\n\nCandidate Requirements\n\n * Proven experience as a Fire Alarm Service Engineer / Small Works Engineer\n\n * Strong knowledge of relevant British Standards, particularly BS 5839\n\n * Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively\n\n * Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills\n\n * Strong customer-facing and communication skills\n\n * A professional, reliable, and safety-conscious approach\n\n * Full UK driving licence\n\nDesirable (But Not Essential)\n\n * FIA units (e.g. Unit 1 / Unit 5)\n\n * Manufacturer training or certifications\n\n * Emergency Lighting and/or Extinguisher qualifications\n\n * Experience working across multiple life safety disciplines\n\nWhat’s On Offer\n\n * Competitive salary £38,000 – £45,000 (DOE)\n\n * Company vehicle, tools, and test equipment\n\n * Ongoing training and development\n\n * Stable workload within a well-established regional operation\n\n * Opportunity to take ownership of sites and grow within the role
