Job Description Job Title: Maintenance Technician (Millwright) Location: South Sacramento, CA Pay: $30/hr - $39/hr Schedule: Day / Swing (4/10) Job Description The Maintenance Technician ensures the reliable and safe operation of equipment and facilities at a chemical manufacturing and distribution facility in Sacramento, CA. This role focuses on performing preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues, and supporting continuous, safe plant operations in line with high safety and environmental standards. Responsibilities • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on plant equipment and facilities to minimize downtime and maximize equipment utilization and life., • Complete maintenance projects and tasks assigned by the maintenance supervisor within agreed timelines., • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues on production and utility equipment., • Maintain and repair mechanical systems, including boilers, water treatment systems, heat exchangers, cooling towers, rotating equipment, and piping systems as applicable to experience level., • Work with rotating equipment such as pumps (centrifugal, rotary, mag drive, diaphragm) and compressors to ensure reliable operation., • Support piping and welding activities involving steel and PVC systems, ensuring safe and effective installation and repair., • Assist with electrical systems including PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation, and general control systems as needed for maintenance and troubleshooting., • Interpret and follow technical construction and mechanical drawings, plans, and schematics when performing maintenance tasks and installations., • Use hand tools, power tools, and chemical plant machinery such as JLG lifts and forklifts safely and correctly., • Follow detailed verbal and written instructions to complete maintenance activities accurately and efficiently., • Adhere strictly to company policies, safety protocols, OSHA requirements, and industry safety practices in all work performed., • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area in and around equipment and facilities., • Communicate effectively with supervisors, peers, and other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize production interruptions., • Work collaboratively as part of a team, sharing information and supporting colleagues to achieve maintenance and production goals., • Adapt to changing priorities and respond quickly to urgent maintenance needs or unplanned equipment issues., • Document maintenance activities as required, including work performed, parts used, and equipment status., • At least 5 years of experience with a high level of competency in a general maintenance environment., • Strong preventative and corrective maintenance on industrial equipment and facilities., • Proven ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues in an industrial setting., • Hands-on experience with mechanical systems such as boilers, water treatment systems, heat exchangers, and cooling towers., • Experience working with rotating equipment including pumps (centrifugal, rotary, mag drive, diaphragm) and compressors., • Skills in piping fitting for steel and PVC systems, including installation, repair, and modification., • Welding skills applicable to industrial maintenance work., • Experience with electrical systems including PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation, and general control systems., • Ability to understand, interpret, and follow technical construction and mechanical drawings and plans., • Proficiency using hand tools and industrial equipment such as JLG lifts and forklifts safely., • Ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions accurately., • Good communication skills for interacting with supervisors, colleagues, and other departments., • Demonstrated ability to work safely with strict adherence to company policies, safety protocols, OSHA requirements, and industry safety practices., • Ability to work effectively in varying climate conditions, including hot, cold, dry, and humid environments., • Prior experience in a chemical or petrochemical manufacturing environment is preferred but not required., • Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, HVAC systems, and industrial conveyors is beneficial., • PLC control, PLC troubleshooting, and electrical troubleshooting in an industrial environment is an advantage., • Knowledge of three-phase electrical systems, motors, and electrical maintenance and repair is helpful., • Experience with installation and commissioning of industrial equipment is a plus., • Ability to read, write, and understand the English language for safety, documentation, and communication purposes., • Familiarity with general maintenance repair practices in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
