Job DescriptionSalary: $20.00 per hour AZACS Essential Piece Van Transportation Driver The Arizona Autism Charter School (AZACS) is seeking a reliable, compassionate, and safety-minded part-time Essential Piece Van Transportation Driver to join our dedicated team! Under the supervision of the Lead Transportation Manager, the Essential Piece Van Transportation Driver will play a key role in ensuring our special education students arrive at school and return home safely, comfortably, and on time each school calendar day. The ideal candidate will demonstrate patience, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to support our K-12 students with diverse needs. As a key representative of our school community, the Essential Piece Van Transportation Driver helps create a positive, welcoming, and secure environment for all student passengers while maintaining high standards of care a vehicle safety. The Essential Piece Van Transportation Driver will be operating primarily before and after school. Hours during school in-session days are as follows: • Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays: 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM; and 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM, • Wednesdays: 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM; and 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM *Additional hours for special activities may be available. These activities include Special Olympics events and field trips. *Safe driver training will be provided. No CDL is required! Transportation staff are crucial in the everyday functioning of students. To perform well and faithfully the duties assigned below by AZACS Essential Piece Transportation in accordance with its policies, rules, and regulations, including, but not limited to the following: Drivers: • Must have and maintain a valid, current driver's license with a clean driving record for the past 5 years., • Must obey all traffic laws, • Must assist with helping students put backpacks and other items away in the van/bus, • Assist students on and off the van/bus, • Buckle students; make sure they are secured safely in the van/bus, • Fill out the mileage logs provided in the van/bus binder, • Report any damage to the vehicle, • Advise administration immediately of any maintenance lights that come on the van/bus, or any item that needs to be addressed, • Must remove trash from inside the vehicle and keep the van clean at all times, • The driver cannot be using the phone while driving (talking/texting), • Use a card provided to place gas in the vehicle, • Notify the administration when in need of a new gas card, • Monitor the needs of students and be ready to pull over safely and assist with behavior if necessary, • Must have and retain a valid AZ fingerprint clearance card, • May need to drive other routes if necessary AZACS Essential Piece Transportation strives to maintain a safe working environment for both students and our staff. However, when working in this environment, there is the potential for portions of the job to become hazardous through contact with bodily fluids, a student lashing out or tossing objects, picking up or moving students, etc. The following characteristics and physical skills are vital for the successful performance of the assigned duties. The physical demands daily may include: • DRIVERS MUST BE WILLING TO TAKE A 9-PANEL URINE DRUG TEST AND PASS WITH A NEGATIVE TEST RESULT AND BE SUBJECT TO RANDOM DRUG TESTING DURING THE YEAR., • Must be willing to provide a motor vehicle record for the past three (3) years, • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling. This will include weight limits below and above 40 lbs. Will be required to assist in lifting, holding, or positioning students with disabilities (including physical, behavioral, learning, etc.), • May be required to sit or stoop on the floor for extended periods of time, • May be required to stand or bend over repeatedly throughout the route, • Required to assist in maintaining a clean environment. This includes but is not limited to using the vacuum, wiping down van/bus seats, mopping, and cleaning up of bodily fluids, • Ability to work outdoors year-round, • Must work well in noisy and crowded environments. While all portions of these job descriptions are considered imperative to AZACS Essential Piece Transportation, the following items are considered essential functions of each job: • Maintain supervision and safety of students at all times, • No cell phone use is allowed outside of aide answering for the driver, • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times by being aware of all information that may be visible or overheard by others, • Uphold ethical behavior in the van/bus environment and the community, • Physical dexterity to meet the demands of the job, • Attendance and Punctuality, • Vision abilities required by the driver job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus, • Observe, record, implement, and report student behavior according to student behavior plans or safety needs when necessary, • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling. This will include weight limits below and above 40 lbs., • Will be required to assist in lifting, holding, or positioning students with disabilities (including physical, behavioral, learning, etc.), • Ability to work outdoors year-round, • Must work well in noisy and crowded environments, • Must work well with others Benefits: • Competitive pay: $20.00 per hour, • Paid Sick Time (PST), • Paid training for drivers, van safety, Title IX, First Aid and CPR, and QBS (behavioral training for crisis prevention) ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Positions in this class require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and other repetitive motions. Physical Requirements: Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible. Working Conditions: Work is routinely performed in an outdoor environment.
