As a Barback, you'll play a key role in supporting the bar team, ensuring that our guests receive outstanding service and that operations run smoothly. MAIN DUTIES TO INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO: • Assist guests with all their needs, • Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor at all times, • Practice and promote teamwork by assisting fellow servers, back servers, and colleagues whenever necessary, • Ensure all allergy procedures are followed during a guest allergy, • Re-stock deliveries from the purchasing department, • Monitor supplies & submit requisitions to meet par levels at the end of the night, • Clean & sanitize glassware, • Weekly polishing of the bar counter, • Empty trash cans, • Ensure cleaning rags & polishing rags are present at the bar, • Ensure fresh sanitizing solution (red buckets) and cloths at all times, • Refresh ice bins, • Collect dirty glasses from the bar & keep the service station tidy, • Ensure & prepare to par levels: garnishes, juices, • Have a full understanding of New York City Health Department standards and regulations, • Report any guest complaints immediately to the Manager/Supervisor, • Have comprehensive knowledge of the menu and wine list, • Ensure mise en place is ready at all times, • Take personal responsibility for punctuality, • Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance at all times, • Ensure a high level of communication between the restaurant and other departments of the hotel, • Promote other Firmdale Hotels and restaurants, • Be able to stand for a complete 8-hour shift, 5 days a week., • Ability to read, review, enter and retrieve information from, and into a Point of Sale System, preferably Micros., • Able to use a computer keyboard and mouse and telephone system., • Ability to communicate both written and verbal and use systems to document activities., • Visual acuity to see restaurant menus and Micros screens, take customer orders, review customer bills and smoothly navigate dining room, kitchen, and other restaurant areas., • Ability to balance dishes, bend, stoop and reach to place and retrieve plates, glassware and other serving items., • Can multitask with a keen sense of attention to detail to make certain tables are served and bussed properly., • Demonstrates the basics of polishing, marking, spot checking and crumbing tables., • Available to work a flexible schedule that can include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays., • Paid vacation, sick, and personal days, • Health, dental, vision, and life insurance plans, • Commuter benefits, • Holiday staff parties and staff appreciation events, • In-house uniform dry cleaning services, • Employee meals while on duty With 3 hotels in New York City and 8 in London, Firmdale sets a standard as a unique and exciting place to work.
