About the Role: Redwood Trust is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to play a key role in designing, building, and optimizing a hybrid on-prem and cloud infrastructure environment. This position will lead and contribute to initiatives spanning data center technologies, Azure cloud services, and SaaS platforms. This is a hands-on, end-to-end role—from solution design through implementation and production support—ideal for a versatile engineer who enjoys ownership, collaboration, and solving complex infrastructure challenges. Key Responsibilities: • Cloud and SaaS:, • Deploy, manage, and monitor all resources in Azure., • Administer Entra ID, O365, and Intune., • Optimize and reduce costs in Azure., • Understanding of Azure IaaC e.g. ARM, Bicep, Terraform, • Experience with a variety of Azure services including App/Web Services, Function Apps, Storage Accounts, Key Vault, Log analytics, App Insights., • Understanding of Azure Private Link Service, Private DNS Resolvers, Private DNS Zones, Private Endpoints, Monitor Private Link Scopes., • Understanding of Virtual networks, subnets, User defined routes, etc., • Basic understanding of Git, GitHub, CI/CD., • Experience with Azure AI services a plus including Cognitive Services, Doc Intelligence, Azure AI Foundry., • Understand of RBAC/IAM in Azure., • On-Prem Infrastructure:, • Build, deploy, manage, monitor, and optimize virtualized workloads on VMware vSphere., • Manage all aspects of all flash Pure Storage Array and vSAN., • Scripting and automation to reduce repetitive tasks., • Architecture Design:, • Create and maintain standard deployment models leveraging IaaS, scripting and automation to ensure consistency and industry best practices., • Recommend architecture improvements for scalability and performance., • Collaboration:, • Work with business stakeholders to understand infrastructure needs and translate them into technical solutions., • Partner with IT, analytics, and operations teams to ensure successful project delivery., • Participate in an oncall rotation for production support., • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior team members., • Performance Optimization:, • Monitor on-prem and cloud infrastructure and services to identify potential bottle necks, optimize performance, and proactively identify potential issues., • Experience:, • 5+ years of systems engineering experience in enterprise environments, • Proven success designing, implementing, and supporting infrastructure and cloud solutions, • Strong troubleshooting skills across complex, hybrid systems, • Hands-on experience with automation, monitoring, APIs, and integrations, • Technical Skills:, • Cloud – Azure (preferred) or AWS, • Scripting – PowerShell (preferred), BASH, • DevOps – CICD, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, • Compute/HCI – Dell, • Storage – Pure Storage, vSAN, or comparable enterprise storage, • Networking – General networking knowledge including firewalls and SDWAN., • Fortinet experience preferred., • SaaS – O365, GitHub, PowerBI/MS Fabric, Atlassian, • APIs – REST, GraphQL, • Hypervisor – ESXi, • Identity Management – Active Directory, Entra ID, or hybrid, • Monitoring – Nagios, • Backup/DR – Rubrik, Zerto, • Soft Skills:, • Excellent communication and documentation skills., • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities., • Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and manage competing priorities., • Certifications (Preferred):, • Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, • Work on modern, high-impact infrastructure initiatives, • Broad ownership across on-prem, cloud, and SaaS platforms, • Collaborative, low-ego environment with real influence, • Competitive compensation, benefits, and flexibility, • Opportunities for continuous learning and professional growth Compensation & Benefits A reasonable estimate of the total compensation range for this role is $135,000 - 175,000.00. The actual salary offer will depend on job-related factors including education, geographic location, training, licensure and certification, and experience.
