Job Description COMPANY OVERVIEW: Dakota Financial is an asset-based direct funding source that has been providing funding solutions for 22 years to over 10,000 clients in all 50 states. SUMMARY: The Account Management Associate is responsible for managing a portfolio of delinquent accounts with a high degree of independence, judgment, and accountability. This role requires a seasoned collections professional who can quickly assess risk, determine and execute the most effective collection strategy, negotiate complex payment and workout arrangements, and drive matters through resolution while protecting Dakota Financial’s interests. The Associate is expected to manage customer interactions with authority and professionalism, balance firmness with sound business judgment, and navigate complex or escalated situations with minimal oversight. This position requires more than 10 years of collections experience within asset-based financing, including significant late-stage and end-stage collections experience. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in delinquency management, default-related communications, payment negotiations, skip tracing, documentation review, and workout strategy. In addition to managing their own portfolio, this individual is expected to serve as a subject matter resource to the broader team, demonstrate strong command of agreement terms and collection remedies, identify risk early, and contribute to the overall quality, consistency, and effectiveness of Dakota Financial’s account management function. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Manage a portfolio of delinquent accounts and take ownership of collection strategy, follow-up, and resolution efforts from early-stage delinquency through late-stage and end-stage collections., • Independently assess account status, payment history, customer circumstances, collateral position, and overall risk in order to determine the most appropriate and effective course of action., • Execute collection strategies designed to bring accounts current, resolve defaults, minimize loss exposure, and protect Dakota Financial’s interests., • Handle complex, escalated, late-stage, and end-stage collection matters with sound judgment, professionalism, and urgency., • Negotiate payment plans, workout arrangements, and other resolution strategies within department guidelines and authority levels., • Communicate with customers regarding past-due balances, invoices, agreement terms, default status, payment expectations, and other account-related matters., • Manage collection calls with confidence and professionalism, including controlling conversations, de-escalating difficult interactions, and maintaining a solutions-oriented approach., • Perform skip tracing, documentation review, and other investigative work needed to establish contact, validate information, and support collection efforts., • Prepare and issue collection-related correspondence, including default letters and other required communications., • Evaluate delinquent accounts and recommend appropriate next steps, including workout options, escalation paths, or other recovery strategies, in accordance with company procedures., • Identify potential credit, collateral, operational, or customer-related risks and elevate concerns to management in a timely manner., • Maintain thorough, accurate, and timely documentation of account activity, collection efforts, customer communications, and negotiated arrangements., • Provide high-quality account servicing for accounts within the assigned queue, including addressing customer service matters related to payment status, account balances, and agreement administration., • Partner with internal teams, including Accounting and other business partners, to resolve account issues, support cash application research, and address disputed fees or other servicing matters., • Apply a strong working knowledge of agreement terms and provisions and clearly communicate those terms to customers when addressing account issues and collection matters., • Demonstrate mastery of core account management processes, systems, and collection tools, and use them effectively to manage portfolio performance., • Serve as a knowledgeable resource to others on the team by sharing expertise, reinforcing best practices, and contributing to the overall quality and consistency of the department’s collection efforts., • Support departmental performance goals by maintaining strong productivity, follow-up discipline, quality standards, and timely resolution of assigned accounts. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
