Job Description Absolute Solar is seeking a State of Michigan licensed Journeyman electrician with experience in residential and commercial buildings, and direct solar energy experience is not required. This Journeyman Electrician is responsible for helping to teach NEC wiring methods and code compliance, as well as overseeing the assigned electrical apprentices' work when on a job site. It is the Journeyman's responsibility to maintain a cohesive work environment and ensure each project is successfully completed. The position requires a strong background in the electrical field, basic construction knowledge, and leadership skills. It is the Journeyman’s responsibility to help oversee and lead the apprentice team, and ensure each apprentice is equipped with the right tools, materials, and knowledge to efficiently complete each project to our industry leading quality standards and our clients' satisfaction. Wage/Compensation: The hourly rate is $38-$44, which is based on related knowledge, skills, and experience with potential for salary equivalent. Purpose of Position This position is a multi-faceted Electrician for solar photovoltaic (PV) installations. The Licensed Electrician must be a mechanically minded individual to work in the field installing commercial and residential grid-tied photovoltaic (PV) systems & components, batteries, EV chargers, and general electrical equipment. The Licensed Electrician will work under the Master Electrician and work with and oversee other electrical apprentice crew members, while reporting to the Senior Project Manager. The Licensed Electrician will also support crew members who are a part of the electrical apprentice program through hands-on coaching, oversight, and guidance. The overall goal is to work with field personnel to achieve completion of the project with the highest level of safety, quality, efficiency, education, and conformance to the original plans and NEC specifications. Major Responsibilities of Position • Lead electrical work & apprentice teams at project sites., • Install EV chargers & batteries., • Responsible for the care and safety of the apprentices on jobsites., • Review project plans and one-line drawings to ensure that the project is wired according to design., • Assures completeness of installation and each project is code compliant., • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment., • Collect data and photos during and at the end of each project., • Complete projects within given time frames and budgets., • Maintain high levels of quality assurance and control, with an emphasis on crew safety., • Submit documentation of completed work daily (photos, checklist, updates) via project management software., • Assist in delegating work amongst apprentices and resolve potential issues., • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions and operational issues., • Communicate with clients in a professional, considerate, and respectful manner, answering all questions and complaints to the best of your ability., • Required:, • Michigan Electrician License (Journeyman or Master), • Two to three years of experience with electrical systems, • Valid State Driver's License, • MIOSHA Certification (e.g., OSHA 10 or 30), • 1-3 professional references, • Preferred:, • North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) certification, • General construction knowledge, • Ability/desire to obtain CDL certification, • Hardworking with great attention to detail., • Extremely reliable with excellent attendance., • Ability to effectively manage daily priorities and tasks., • Excellent verbal communication skills., • Flexibility to occasionally work extended hours (up to 10-12 hours, Monday through Friday)., • Strong working knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), Uniform Building Code (UBC), and local/utility jurisdiction requirements., • Experience complying with OSHA safety requirements and regulations., • Professional appearance and exceptional customer service., • Ability to lift, pull, and push equipment and materials weighing roughly 40-50 pounds., • Ability to stand, walk, and navigate construction job sites and terrain., • Full upper and lower body mobility in order to be able to stoop, stand, bend, sit, kneel, and squat for extended periods., • Ability to work at heights and safely perform work with proper safety restraints., • Commercial, Residential, and Municipal Construction Settings – Up to 85-100% - Job site indoor and outdoor work installing solar systems, batteries, generators, EV chargers, and general electrical services. Working 8-hour days typically, with the need to occasionally work up to a 10 or 12-hour day to meet an important deadline. During installations, there are construction site hazards, along with work often taking place outdoors year-round; therefore, significant heat and cold weather conditions are to be expected., • Travel Required – majority of the time, approximately 1-hour or less from office and warehouse - Electricians travel to our job sites using company provided truck, and work with our installation team, installing solar systems, batteries, EV chargers, and general electrical services like service and panel upgrades for our clients. Types of jobsites vary, and overnight travel is very rare; when required, ample advanced notice is provided, because Absolute Solar understands and prioritizes a healthy work-life balance for all our team members.
