Job Description Position Summary & Objective Welds metal components together. Layout, fit, and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms and repair machine parts using knowledge of welding techniques (using brazing and a variety of arc and gas welding equipment), metallurgy, and engineering requirements. Essential Functions Performed by the Position • Welds metal parts together using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes., • Perform related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding., • Repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes, and welds overlay metal parts., • May locate cracks using die penetrant NDT methods and repair cracks in large fabrications., • Positions and sets up components in preparation for weld repairs and/or fabrication., • Lays out parts and assemblies according to specifications. Creates templates and other work aids to hold and align parts.
