Job Description POSITION SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The COURIER position is responsible for pick-ups and deliveries of his/her route and requires the ability to work without supervision to include but not limited to: • Ensure pickups are made promptly., • Maintain records of pickups and deliveries, • Keep others informed of changes or problems., • Help offices to get specimens together correctly., • Change route schedule to accommodate offices as needed., • Pick up specimens daily that go back to the Privia Lab., • Ensure specimens are stored properly during transportation, • All employees operating company vehicles in Texas, • Health Care must have a valid Texas Driver’s License with them., • Designated drivers are responsible for ensuring that the vehicle for which they are the primary driver, has current inspection stickers and tags., • Primary drivers are expected to ensure that vehicles are properly maintained (i.e. tire rotation, oil changes, checking fluids, etc.), • Primary drivers must ensure they have current insurance cards for the vehicle stored in the glove compartment., • Drivers are expected to drive within the posted speed limits and operate the vehicle safely and responsibly., • Possesses the ability to organize, assess, and communicate effectively with team members., • Assists with problem-solving and process improvement., • Utilizes available resources effectively. Seeks assistance or direction when uncertain or unfamiliar with operations or procedures., • Requires minimal supervision., • Reports to work as scheduled. Consistently arrives and leaves on time. Unscheduled absence is not greater than three times per quarter. Gives proper notification of requested time off following policy and procedure., • Accepts other duties as required, willingly. Demonstrates follow-through on assigned duties., • Completes assignments promptly., • Serves as a role model to other staff. Displays a positive attitude and fosters a team spirit within the office., • Demonstrates “Customer Service” orientation to patients, families, physicians, referral sources, and all staff, by treating everyone with courtesy, concern, respect, and sensitivity., • Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, staff, physicians, and other company personnel., • Adheres to safety regulations; does not cause accidents by careless performance., • Handles and operates equipment properly and carefully, • Does not cause equipment failure through improper use., • Demonstrates understanding of emergency procedures, fire drills and evacuation procedures on internal/external disaster plans, • Utilize proper telephone etiquette, giving name and office., • High School diploma or general equivalency., • Valid Drivers License and good driving record., • Knowledge of the City, or follow directions to locate addresses for pick-up., • Background in delivery work is helpful., • Good verbal and written communication skills.
