American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care for a travel nursing job in Charleston, South Carolina. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 01/05/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, days, • Position is in a 28-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit serving patients ages 0-18, • Mixed acuity unit with both ICU and stepdown pediatric patients, • Common patient needs include respiratory compromise, trauma, post-operative surgical care, and neuro/neurosurgery cases, • Patient ratios range from 1:1, 1:2, to 1:3 depending on acuity, • Care includes ventilatory and cardiac support, ECMO, CRRT, dialysis, and palliative care services, • Uses Epic EMR system, • Three 12-hour rotating shifts per week, primarily days (7a-7:30p) with one month of nights (7p-7:30a), • Weekend requirement is 4 weekend shifts per schedule for days and up to 5 for nights, including Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, • Floating within scope may be required based on unit needs, • No on-call requirement, • Role involves delivering intensive and intermediate nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients with complex needs, • Team includes RNs, patient care technicians, unit secretaries, respiratory therapists, dietitians, and pharmacists, • First-time travelers will be considered, • Block scheduling requests require manager approval and are not guaranteed, • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted when applying and will be approved based on unit needs, • Holiday coverage is required if assignment covers holiday periods, • Local candidates (within 60 miles) may be accepted on a case-by-case basis with a pay adjustment, • Candidates must not have been a permanent or PRN employee of the system within the past year, • Modules must be completed prior to start as part of onboarding, • Parking requires a permit and hang tag with a registration fee, • During hurricane season (June to November), staff may be assigned to emergency response teams\n \n Requirements\n, • Active SC or compact RN license required, • Minimum 2 years of recent PICU RN experience required, • Current BLS and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association required, • Epic EMR experience is preferred, • Drivers license and social security card required for consideration\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
