Job DescriptionDescription: I. BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for providing comprehensive primary care services for patients who receive health care at Family Care Health Centers. Department Officer: Chief Medical Officer Reports to: Chief Medical Officer and/or Associate Medical Director Supervises: Medical consultation to Nurse Practitioners of same specialty JOB DESCRIPTION DEPARTMENT: MEDICAL SERVICES JOB TITLE: PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN: INTERNAL MEDICINE, FAMILY PRACTICE, OB/GYN, PEDIATRICIAN AND GENERAL PRACTICE. PHYSICIAN Page 2. III. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Provides consultation to Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Midwives and Physician Assistants., • Provides telephone consultation to patients and families as necessary., • Maintains appropriate policies, protocols, records, reports, and statistical data relevant to services provided. services such as x-ray, pharmacy, and specialty referrals. • Consults with staff members regarding the comprehensive health care needs of individual clients., • Plans and implements Health Center programs and projects in cooperation with identified staff members., • Contributes to Health Center community health activities outside of regular job responsibilities., • Participates in Health Center staff problem solving groups. Page 3. V. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Inside Health Center: All inclusive. Outside Health Center: Patients/Clients, students, vendors, community health agencies, grant agencies, funding agencies, professional colleagues, professional organizations and education institutions, managed care plans, hospital committees especially physician/hospital collaboration groups, City, State and Federal agencies, etc. VI. QUALIFICATIONS: • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy required., • License to practice medicine in the State of Missouri and be in good standing required., • Drug licensed including DEA and BNDD numbers required., • Medicare and Medicaid provider enrollment numbers including Medicare UPIN number., • Board Eligible or Board-Certified status preferred., • Completion of residency training program in primary care specialty preferred. Current membership(s) and active participation in respective medical specialty is encouraged. VIII. CONTINUING EDUCATION: Satisfactory maintenance of continuing education standards as established by the Missouri State Medical Association required. PHYSICIAN Page 4. IX.
