Job DescriptionShipping & Receiving Manager (Aerospace) Pay Rate: $34–$38/hour (depending on experience) Position Summary The Shipping & Receiving Manager is responsible for overseeing all inbound and outbound logistics operations within a regulated aerospace manufacturing environment. This role ensures the accurate receipt, storage, handling, documentation, and shipment of aerospace components and assemblies while maintaining strict compliance with AS9100, FAA, ITAR/EAR, and customer-specific requirements. This position plays a critical role in preserving product integrity, ensuring full material traceability, and supporting on-time delivery performance. Key ResponsibilitiesRegulatory & Quality Compliance • Ensure full compliance with AS9100/ISO 9001, ITAR/EAR, and all applicable customer, contractual, and governmental requirements, • Maintain material traceability, including lot control, serialization, and configuration management from receipt through shipment, • Ensure all shipping and receiving activities align with internal Quality Management System (QMS) procedures, • Properly handle, store, and segregate controlled, classified, and export-restricted materialsShipping & Receiving Operations, • Manage all inbound and outbound shipments, including raw materials, production hardware, tooling, repairables, and finished goods, • Verify incoming materials against purchase orders, engineering drawings, Certificates of Conformance (CoC), and inspection requirements, • Ensure outbound shipments meet all customer specifications for packaging, labeling, preservation, and documentation, • Oversee preparation and review of shipping documentation (packing lists, CoCs, air waybills, commercial invoices, export paperwork), • Coordinate domestic and international shipments with approved carriers and freight forwardersInventory & Material Control, • Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts and reconciliation processes, • Ensure proper storage conditions, environmental controls, and adherence to FOD (Foreign Object Debris) prevention practices, • Partner with Quality, Engineering, and Production to resolve discrepancies, nonconformances, and material shortagesLeadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration, • Supervise, train, and mentor shipping and receiving personnel on compliance, safety, and aerospace best practices, • Establish and track KPIs such as on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, damage rates, and compliance performance, • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, Program Management, and Production teams to meet operational goals, • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, risk reduction, and regulatory adherenceSafety & Risk Management, • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies, • Oversee proper handling of hazardous materials and enforce safe material handling practices, • Identify and mitigate risks related to logistics operations, export compliance, and shipment integrityRequired Qualifications, • 5+ years of shipping/receiving or logistics experience in an aerospace or defense manufacturing environment, • Strong working knowledge of AS9100, ITAR/EAR, and aerospace documentation standards, • Proven leadership experience managing warehouse or logistics teams, • Solid understanding of domestic and international shipping regulations, • Strong attention to detail with a compliance-focused mindsetPreferred Qualifications, • Experience supporting government or defense aerospace programs, • Participation in audits with customers, registrars, or regulatory agencies, • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologiesCore Competencies, • Regulatory compliance & risk management, • Aerospace material traceability & documentation, • Leadership & team development, • Cross-functional communication, • Process discipline & continuous improvement
