Job Description Characteristics of Work The primary responsibilities of this position include receiving written materials and electronic files for printing and duplication and advising the administrative superior relative to the adaptability of machines and equipment. This work also involves the operation of a variety of tasks involved in the reproduction of letters, forms, manuals, booklets, newsletters, marketing materials, and other printed materials. Work entails considerable responsibility for establishing and/or applying procedures for efficient operations. Essential Functions These essential functions include but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified by the Agency. Sets adjusts, and operates the paper folding machine, stapling machine, collator, paper cutter, paper drill, pamphlet and bookbinding machines, and state-of-the-art digital reproduction equipment to develop printed material, as required and in the timeframe dictated by the needs of the Agency. Delivers finished product to user departments and/or external customers. Advises administrative superiors about the capacity and adaptability of machines and equipment. Assist with the sales, production, and delivery of services, including printing, cutting, binding, editing, designing, and packaging. Demonstrates technical expertise and ability to troubleshoot hardware and operating software, and maintain all equipment in the assigned area ensuring that it is in safe and proper working order. Responsible for checking conformity; comparing artwork; proofing; product verification; Pantone, CMYK, and RGB color management; print positioning; making press adjustments or other pre-press functions to make sure files are print-ready and to ensure accuracy and quality. Consistent production of neat, accurate work with high attention to detail. Ensures that all Print Shop working areas, storage areas, supplies, and equipment are kept in clean and safe condition, and are organized in the most efficient manner. Coordinates the procurement, and maintains inventory and control of all paper stock and other supplies used in the reproduction process. Batches and routes printed materials for storage. Maintains a system to retain documents/files for all print jobs – electronic and hard copies. Management of accurate production logs. Prepares and submits productivity reports, as well as print production time and cost analyses. Maintains operational records and files. Lifts boxes of papers and other supplies weighing more than 50 pounds on a regular basis. Position requires walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Work is performed in an office setting. Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned. Recruits volunteers and in-kind contributions. Qualifications An associate's degree in business, computer technology, graphic design, or a related field and two years of experience with computers and in operating and maintaining high-volume digital copiers, office machines, and distributing printed material. Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, graphic design, or a related field preferred. Must have good communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to translate and apply written instruction. Able to prioritize multiple projects, and have ability to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Must have good computer skills and ability to use Fiery, Microsoft Word, and Excel. Experience with Microsoft Publisher, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator software is a plus. Demonstrates a high level of dependability, initiative, and responsibility. Must have good work ethic and positive attitude. Maintains a consistent, high-quality, customer-focused orientation when conducting business and providing services or products to clients, the general public, and other external customers. Must possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Characteristics of Work\r\nUnder the supervision of the Center Administrator and indirect supervision and training of/by the Director of Facilities and Field Services, the Custodian/Security Guard is responsible for the daily housekeeping and cleaning of the entire Head Start Center, both indoors and outdoors, as well as continual campus monitoring and security.\r\n\r\nEssential Functions\r\nThese essential functions include but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the Agency.\r\n\r\nCleans building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and/or vacuuming, as required.\r\n\r\nGathers and empties trash.\r\n\r\nService, clean, and supply restrooms on a continuous basis each day. \r\n\r\nFollows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures, taking care to store and lock cleaning materials out of the reach/access of children.\r\n\r\nMonitors building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.\r\n\r\nMoves furniture, equipment, and supplies manually or by using a hand truck, dolly, or maintenance cart. \r\n\r\nNotifies the Center Administrator concerning the need for major repairs. \r\n\r\nSpreads ice melt on stairs, ramps, porches, and sidewalks, as warranted. \r\n\r\nSets up for meetings and functions. \r\n\r\nCleans and polishes furniture, fixtures, mirrors, and windows. \r\n\r\nDusts furniture, walls, and equipment.\r\n\r\nStrips, seals, finishes, and polishes floors. \r\n\r\nMixes chemicals for cleaning.\r\n\r\nMakes minor repairs (changing bulbs, switch plates, outlet covers, tightening screws, toilet seats, and minor plumbing repairs).\r\n\r\nPlanning and Organizing\r\nStores garbage, trash, and other items for disposal in accordance with proper sanitation procedures. \r\n\r\nRequests janitorial supplies.\r\n\r\nImplementing Activities\r\nInspects buildings and grounds for unsafe conditions.\r\n\r\nRemoves hazardous debris from center grounds on a daily basis.\r\n\r\nCleans floors, bathrooms, and classrooms daily in accordance with proper cleaning procedures.\r\n\r\nPerforms cleaning tasks such as dusting and washing windows and walls on a regular basis.\r\n\r\nRecording, Keeping, and Reporting\r\nMaintains an inventory of adequate janitorial supplies and keeps classrooms and bathrooms properly supplied.\r\n\r\nCommunicating and Guiding\r\nPerforms minor replacements and repairs to fixtures and furnishing in accordance with the work plan., including replacing light bulbs, as needed. \r\n\r\nTraining and Supporting\r\nParticipates in staff meetings, parent meetings, training sessions, workshops, conferences, and parent activities.\r\n\r\nRecruit volunteers and in-kind contributions. Recruit children for enrollment in Head Start.\r\n\r\nAdditional Responsibilities\r\nPerforms other duties and assignments as directed by management.\r\n \r\n\r\nQualifications\r\nHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent; two (2) years experience in custodial services Ability to communicate effectively.\r\n\r\nSpecial Requirements\r\nApplicants must:\r\n\t-meet State health requirements\r\n\t-pass Criminal Background and Child Abuse Central Registry Check\r\n\r\nPhysical Requirements\r\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and use hands and fingers to handle cleaning supplies and equipment. The employee must frequently lift a minimum of 50 lbs.; assistance may be requested if necessary. While performing this job, the \r\n\r\nSupervisory Control\r\nThe Custodian is directly responsible to the Center Administrator. The Administrator will evaluate the Custodian semi-annually through performance monitoring and progress reviews, conducted in collaboration with the Facilities and Field Services Director.
