Job Description Outback Contractors Inc. and Basin Enterprises Inc. are seeking a Project Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of utility project work from inception to completion. The Project Manager is responsible for the preparation, coordination, and delivery of utility construction projects safely, on time, and within budget with a focus on areas of safety, resource planning, scheduling, procurement, cost management, internal/external reporting, performance tracking, estimating, change order management, forecasting, billing, and collaboration with the overall project team. This position requires strong skills in leadership, decision-making, and accountability in areas of cost controls, client relations, project reporting, and accurate performance tracking. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES • Lead project planning and execution by monitoring performance, including budgets, cost codes, scheduling, phasing, cash flow, and controls, • Manage client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for project performance, projections, and accrual reporting, • Ensure the maintenance of common systems and processes to deliver compliant reporting, timely/accurate project updates, customer billing, scheduling, material procurement, subcontractor management, documentation, and budgeting adherence, • Validate compliance with safety standards, contractual requirements, and applicable regulations throughout all phases of work, • Generate, process, and manage submittals/RFIs and coordinate with internal team members to ensure resources are delivered on time, • Coordinate with superintendents, clients, subcontractors, and other members of the project team to support project delivery and performance, • Collaborate with the project team to assess and identify project opportunities or obstacles that could impact project schedule and/or performance and document the development and implementation of determined corrective actions, • Maintain project schedules weekly by coordinating with field management to obtain accurate progress updates, as required, • Track, analyze, and communicate project performance against established metrics, including schedule adherence, cost management/control, production attainment, DSO, and profitability, • Coordinate scheduling of subcontractors, inspections, equipment, and material procurement to support field operations, • Lead monthly project forecasting with field leadership to determine accurate forecast-to-complete values and continually collaborate with management to validate financial EAC, • Review and approve timecards from field operations and ensure accurate phase coding of direct labor and equipment costs to support performance tracking, • Review and approve supplier invoices and appropriately code project costs, including the review and release of subcontractor payments in alignment with contractual requirements, • Prepare and present monthly financial project performance reports and projections to management and stakeholders, • Collaborate with management to generate and maintain accurate backlog forecasts, • Ensure timely closeout of projects, including final reporting, punch list completion, and customer satisfaction, • Participate in the preparation and development of large-scale RFPs and client rate sheets as needed to support estimating team, • Manage contract values and change order processes to ensure compliance with audit requirements, • Travel to project yards or jobsites as needed internally or as required by clients to maintain on-site presence and to facilitate communication and collaboration with project teams, • Provide mentorship, direction, and performance feedback to Assistant Project Managers/Project Coordinators, as needed, • Other duties as assigned SKILLS & COMPETENCIES • Skilled in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and office 365, • Advanced knowledge of construction management processes, data processing systems/programs, scheduling, risk management, and cost controls, • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships at all organizational levels, • Proven ability to manage multi-faceted and complex projects concurrently under tight deadlines, • Meticulous with excellent organizational skills, • Enthusiastic leader who is adaptable in a fast-paced, project-driven environment, • Possess a self-driven approach to responsibilities and performance, • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior team members EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field of study from an accredited university, or commensurate construction project management/ project controls experience, • Documented project management, construction management, or project controls experience in utility, electrical, or heavy construction industries (consideration of equivalent experience in related industries) PREFERRED: • 5+ years of project management and/or project controls experience directly in utility electrical and civil construction services, • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, • Advanced knowledge of Primavera P6, Oracle Primavera Cloud, or similar construction scheduling software, • Experience with ViewPoint Vista or similar ERP / construction management programs, • Experience with HCSS/HeavyJob or similar construction management software WHO WE ARE At Outback Contractors, Inc. and Basin Enterprises, Inc., we are proud to be family-owned companies built on trust, hard work, and long-term relationships.
