Job Description A leading provider of clean nuclear power generation technology is seeking an accomplished and execution-oriented Director of Human Resources to build, operate, and scale the company’s people function across a growing, multi-site, and international organization. This role is designed for a senior HR leader who combines strategic judgment with hands-on operational ownership and who has experience building modern people systems in technically complex environments. The Director of HR will be responsible for architecting the company’s end-to-end people infrastructure, including recruiting, hiring, workforce planning, performance management, compensation frameworks, and HR systems, and for ensuring these systems operate with discipline, consistency, and compliance as the organization scales. This role serves as the senior authority on human capital strategy while remaining directly accountable for execution. Key Responsibilities People Operations & Systems Ownership • Build and lead a lean HR function supporting multi-site and multi-country operations., • Own and operate the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, performance management, employee relations, compensation administration, and offboarding., • Design, document, and enforce the company’s core people systems, including job architecture, leveling frameworks, performance evaluation processes, and career progression models., • Establish HR operating standards, service levels, and workforce metrics to support organizational health and growth., • Select, implement, and manage HRIS, payroll, and related people systems, ensuring data integrity and operational discipline., • Manage the HR budget, vendor relationships (benefits, payroll, legal, recruiting), and external advisors. Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning • Own all recruiting and hiring activity across functions, seniority levels, and geographies., • Translate business objectives into workforce plans, headcount forecasts, and hiring roadmaps., • Design and run a disciplined, end-to-end recruiting process, including role definition, approval workflows, sourcing strategy, interview standards, and offer governance., • Drive recruiting for highly specialized technical, engineering, scientific, and corporate roles., • Manage external recruiters and search firms; build internal recruiting capability and processes as scale requires., • Ensure hiring decisions align with compensation frameworks, internal equity, and long-term workforce strategy. Organizational Effectiveness & Leadership Support • Partner with executive leadership on organizational design, succession planning, and leadership development., • Develop multi-year people and talent roadmaps aligned with company growth and operational plans., • Build and oversee performance management processes that reinforce accountability, development, and high standards., • Support management teams on employee engagement, retention, and culture development in a technically sophisticated environment., • Ensure people systems are applied consistently across sites and countries while accommodating local operational and regulatory requirements. Compliance, Risk & Governance • Serve as the senior authority on HR compliance across federal, state, and international jurisdictions., • Ensure adherence to labor laws, employment regulations, benefits compliance, and data privacy requirements., • Design, implement, and enforce company-wide HR policies, including code of conduct, disciplinary procedures, leave management, and workplace standards., • Oversee employee relations matters and investigations with discretion, rigor, and sound judgment., • Partner with legal and finance teams to ensure HR practices align with corporate governance, audit standards, and risk management expectations. Compensation & Benefits • Lead compensation strategy, including salary frameworks, incentive plans, equity programs, and benchmarking., • Oversee benefits design and administration to ensure competitiveness, compliance, and cost effectiveness., • Ensure consistent and equitable application of compensation and promotion practices across the organization. Qualifications • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in human resources leadership, including people operations, recruiting, and compliance., • Demonstrated experience building and operating HR and recruiting systems in growth-stage or scaling organizations., • Proven experience supporting multi-site organizations and employees across at least two countries., • Strong knowledge of U.S. employment law; experience with international labor frameworks strongly preferred., • Experience operating in technically complex, regulated, or engineering-driven environments., • Track record of owning execution, not solely advisory responsibilities, in senior HR roles., • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred)., • Relevant certifications preferred (SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent).
