Job Title: Private Equity Accountant / Controller (Part-Time) Location: New York, NY (Hybrid or Remote with Periodic On-Site Visits) Job Type: Part-Time (Flexible Hours, 20–25 hours/week) About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Private Equity Accountant/Controller to join our team on a part-time basis. This individual will oversee the financial operations of Cathay’s US private equity arm by liaising with the firm’s outside accounting, tax and compliance administrators to ensure accurate accounting, regulatory compliance, and timely reporting. The ideal candidate has significant experience in U.S.-based private equity fund accounting and can operate autonomously with a high level of integrity and precision. The role allows remote flexibility, with an expectation to visit our New York City office once every two to three months for in-person collaboration with the team. Key Responsibilities: Oversee and manage all accounting and financial operations for U.S.-based private equity funds, co-investment and management entities Liaise with external auditors, accountants, compliance, tax preparers, and fund administrators Monitor compliance with U.S. regulatory requirements including SEC-related filings and partnership agreements Review general ledgers, capital accounts, and investment schedules Coordinate and review fund NAV calculations and capital calls/distributions Manage quarterly and annual financial reporting, including investor reports and audit support Assist with cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis Support deal teams with transaction-related accounting and reporting Implement and maintain effective internal controls and accounting policies Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred) 5+ years of relevant experience, ideally within private equity, venture capital, or hedge funds Experience with U.S. fund structures, private equity vehicles, and financial reporting standards In-depth knowledge of U.S. compliance requirements and SEC regulations affecting private funds Experience with fund administration platforms and accounting software (e.g., Investran, QuickBooks, etc.) Highly organized, analytical, and capable of managing multiple priorities independently Excellent communication and interpersonal skills ** ** What We Offer: Flexible, part-time schedule (20–25 hours/week), with potential for increased scope Remote work flexibility with periodic in-person check-ins at our NYC office Competitive hourly compensation Opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and growing investment firm Collaborative, entrepreneurial team environment Compensation: $50–$60 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications
